Question:
Is it normal to get bloated after eating?

I am 8 months out RNY/Distal open...no compications. I bloat after eating, it feels like when I used to (pre-op) overeat, it is all above the belly button bloating. Example I just ate 2 thin slices of Ham 2-3 forkfuls of Mashed potates, 1/2 small biscuit. If this seems like alot of food..I have been able to eat more than most seem to , but have lost 96lbs so far..no real platues or anything. But, the bloating is worrying me, can I be stretching the pouch and not realizing that I am full?    — Patricia R. (posted on September 1, 2002)

hi there i think the bloating is your pouches way of saying its satisfied now time to stop but also it could be certain food you eat like if you eat alot of breads or pasta i think they expand in your tummy. good job on your weight loss! :) best of luck to you.

I think that you are eating too much starch to begin with, remember that bread and pasta stretches (i think i spell it right)your stomach, so you have to be very careful. My surgeon told me that i can't really touch starch for at least a year after surgery and i'm going to have the DS.
