There is a woman who works at a local Wal-Mart who had WLS a couple months ago. I don't know if her insurance is through Wal-Mart though, as I don't know her well enough to ask. I'm assuming it is though. Everyone there seems to support her. So Walmart seems WLS friendly. At least our local Walmart anyway.

From what I have read on here, Wal*Mart employess have found that there is an exclusion that they can not get around. I think they are self funded. As for the other companies, I know of someone who worked for Lowes and had surgery last year. I am pretty sure that she had insurance through the company......Good luck.

I've heard from different sources that Walmart does have a clause against WLS...I'm not sure about the other companies.

Hi Becky, I have heard threw a recent WLS seminar talking with other gals there , that the insurance that is covered threw Home Depot and also Satbucks, (If you have one out there) all offer WLS surgery and by what I hear they cover it at 100%, hope this help. P.s. Stay away from Walmart they have a written exclusion, good luck and God Bless.

I know several employees that work at the Home Depot corporate office that have had WLS (very recently). They used to have Aetna and now they have Cigna and have not had any problems with getting approval.

I used to work at Target. I started researching WLS while I was there but never attempted to get approved. I had United Health Care Select POS, which from other posts sounds like it approves the surgery. If you are an entry level employee you are offered insurance after one year of employment. If you are a supervisor or manager, I believe its 60 or 90 days.
