Question:
Has anyone experienced excrutiating pain in their lower belly area?

I am 12 days post-op and I had my surgery laproscopic RNY. When I cough or sneeze, I literally have to hug by lower belly really hard or I will start crying because the pain is so bad?!?!?! Also, that same area of skin is completely NUMB!?!?! This is the only complication that I have had, so I am sure that it is not too bad. Could you please write to me and let me know if you have experienced a similar experience. Thank you so much in advance!    — Who Knows (posted on December 21, 2002)

Have you been doing your deep breathing treatments? My doctor had me do my spirometer for at least two weeks post op.

You say you cry because the pain is so bad. This being true, I would call my doctor or go to the ER. Extreme pain is not normal.

ME ME ME!!! I was going to ask this same thing tonight. My lower left quadant hurts more than anything. I had surgery (lap RNY) on last Monday (less than a week ago) and it hurts soooo much! I think this is where the small bowel meets the large bowel and gas gets caught. You are not alone!

This has happened to me a lot; and it is happening now. For me it has been gas pains and/or constipation. Call your doc or PA right away so they can rule out things and you won't be worried. They are there for YOU!

I had a bad pain in that area about the same time frame as you. I pointed out the area to my surgeon, he said it was from the shots that were given to me for the blood thinners. The pain lasted about a week.
