Question:
Anyone travel to have the surgery? How far, and what about post care?
OK, more then one question. The last one that would not fit above is. Have anyone heard of the Hospital in Lubbock Texas. A DR. David Hall. If anyone have heard of Hospital/Doctor what do you have to say about Hostital/Doctor?????? I may have to travel to have this done... They said they will fly me there. What about the flight and drive home? Also how did you get your after care done? Did you have to travel back to where you had the surgery done? I drove from Oklahoma to Tenn. for the Fobi pouch procedure.. Once I
finished all my research and decided on the perfect surgery for me.. I was
willing to go where ever to get it!!! I drove over 800 miles each way.. I
styed in TNN until after staples and drain were taken out then headed
home with instructions to get out and walk every 30-45 minutes.. The
after care was great I returned to Tenn for one visit at the 3rd month
post-op ....The rest of my after care was handled through my PCP and
faxed to my surgeon at each monthly visit. My labs were done as
directed by my surgeon to my PCP. He was also directed as to what to watch
for i.e. Ulcers and Hernias, Blood work.. So my after care although done
long distance through my Surgeon & PCP working together... I have
great care and support .. My surgeon in Tenn (Dr. John Husted) has also
written me personally if I had any questions.. Also Dr. Husted and his
nurse Jamie Carr answer questions in my egroup.. Got to love these guys

What more can you ask for they both are a very dedicated to the Obese and
their care.. I thank God every day I found him..

I traveled from Alaska to California to have open RNY.I was able to do it
alone(with the help of new friends I made in Fountain Valley:)My primary
doctor here in Alaska does my follow up care.I also have a 1-800# to call
if I have any questions at all.Carol Fant

I had surgury 6 months ago in Lubbock. Dr. Hall and his staff are great.
The hospital was ok. I live 90 miles away so did not have to travel like
you will. But on the same day I had my surgury, Kelly from Penn. also had
surgury. She flew in and flew home 7 days later. I still keep in touch
with her. She is not part of this site, but if you would like I can let
you know how to get in touch with her. I have lost 110 lbs. and Kelly has
lost 104 lbs. in 6 months and we are both very pleased with our results.
To answer one of your questions about follow up, she follows up with her
PCP in PA.
