Question:
is incision pain and side of incision pain and swelling normal at 10 wks po
My incision was very narrow and for the first few weeks post-op no problem at all, then the incision started to stretch and it is wider now and hurts. So does the area on the sides. Sometimes it looks swollen to me and the incision seems redder when it really hurts. Should i be concerned? I am 10 weeks post-op. Has this happened to anybody else? — marilyn I. I would venture to say you have one of two things. Either an incision
ifection (which I would wonder about being that it's 10 weeks post-op) or a
hernia, which still confuses me because you said it's red. Either way, I'd
contact your surgeon or PCP and see what help they can offer.

I am 5 months post op and have had incision discomfort. It bothers me from
the inside when I sneeze or cough at times.
I spoke with my doctor and he said everyone heals differently so not to
worry. I think you shd go see your doctor for your own peace of mind.

Red? As in, the line itself is red, like a worm? Or red around it? If the
skin is red, then see your surgeon soon. If the scar itself is becoming
thick, red & ropey, see your dermatologist. Each of my scars has
formed a keloid, which is that tight, hard line, which grows wider with
time. It puckers the skin around it, too, so suddenly the skin doesn't fit
right. BUT the scar can be injected and made to lie flat, though it will
never be a pencil line again.

Michelle, my incision is red and ropey and about 1/4 inch wide. Are you
saying that it can continue to grow.
