Question:
I am taking my pills with water! Is this okay?

I crush all my pills and open those that come in capsule form and I swallow it with water. Will they absorb effectively? Or is this a no-no? Thank you.    — Brian S. (posted on April 21, 2003)

I would imagine it would depend on the medication in question. I would ask the doctor. I am 3 months post op and I take everything in pill form now with water and I just try to find everything in capsule form. I have been doing so for about a month. Good Luck!

If they are actual meds, ask the pharmacist. They know exactly where in the gut they break down, if they required stomach acid, etc. They know them INTIMATELY, so they are an excellent source of precise info. Of course, they may know squat about our surgery, but they do know their meds.
