Question:
on Monday. It was 30 cm x 10 cm and was kind of like swiss cheese (meaning

it was two big hernias and had several smaller holes poking through. My surgeon used mesh laproscopily to repair it before I had 8 lbs of fat removed with a panniculectomy. Today I was taking a nap and several times I woke up with a small cry because my abdominal area convulsed with a spasm. It jerked me awake and hurt like heck! I had these when I had my first surgery and the doctor prescribed oxyfast, a liquid form of oxycodone. I called my pcp (the same one who prescribed it two years ago) but apparently they won't prescribe any form of oxycodone now. Does anyone know if there is something I can ask for that will help these spasms? I am afraid to fall asleep because I will jerk awake with them. Anyone experience this?    — Mylou52 (posted on February 3, 2004)

I had similar, jarring muscle spasms in the hospital following my incisional hernia repair. My doctor gave me Valium for it and it did work wonders! Those muscles went right to sleep along with the rest of me. Good luck!
