Question:
Is there anything I can do to ease the pain? I had my RNY and GB removed a week ago.

I had my RNY and Gall Bladder removed on November 18th since coming home from the hospitalI have terrible pains on my right side below the bra line a sharp pain begins and then it spasms. Any suggestions ???    — Paulina S. (posted on November 27, 2002)

I had the same 2 operations as you did. I was told by the doctor that it takes 10-15 days to start feeling anywhere near normal. If your pains don't start lessening in the next few days, call your doctor. My pains didn't go away at all and my stomach started bloating and I had a bile duct leak (where they take the GB out, it's rare but sometimes you get a leak). Since I had told my doc I was a big baby when it comes to pain, he didn't realize something else was going on until I had bloated up 3 times my normal size. Take it easy and rest alot (but get your walking in!). (Oh, that was another way we knew something was really wrong other than the normal great pain from these 2 ops --- I could not stand up and walk at all.) Great success with your upcoming weight loss!

I had the same surgery almost a year ago and I didn't experience any pain like you are describing. I would suggest that you check with your doctor - just to be sure. After all, we are about to enter a long holiday weekend and if it were me, I'd rather talk with my surgeon today than have to deal with some bozo in the ER over the holiday.
