Question:
I am 6 weeks out...Did I eat too much?

For lunch today, I had a portion of an omelete from IHOP (I had some of a friend's meal). Honestly, I don't know how much I ate (I know that's terrible) but if I had to guess I would say about 2-3 ozs. It had ham, onions and cheese. BTW, I have been cleared by my doctor to eat anything I can "tolerate". Now, I have the most horrible stomach pains I have ever had. I don't know if I ate too much or if it's gas from the onions....either way, I feel like I'm going to die and I am terrified I have done something terrible to my pouch. Could I have streched it or hurt the staple line???    — Ro S. (posted on January 11, 2003)

Ro, I had omelette's at 6 wks out, however, I only had egg & cheese omelettes...I am quessing it was probably the onion of maybe you ate to fast. No, you dind't stretch it and no you didn't sisrupt anyhting. In the future, I recommend paying closer attention to what you are eating and how fast. Good Luck to you! Heather (8/15 - 305/224/150)

Hi Ro - I had the exact experience. When I was 6 weeks out - I had a sausage and cheese omelette and got soooo very sick that I havent touched an omelette since. Im only about 8 weeks now though and do plan on having them again some day, since they are so high in protein. I wish you luck!

I know you stated that you were cleared to eat whatever, and I know that all surgeons have different "AFTER CARE" rules....but according to my surgeron, I was not allowed to have onions until 4 months out and no ham until 6 months. No sure why we had to wait so long for the ham, but as far as the onions go, we were told that they are just to hard on your new stomach and does cause gas, even if you did not get gas from them before. 2 - 3 oz does not sound like alot, I can only tell you that I was not eating 3 oz until around my 4th month. Good luck and Best Wishes. Sharon -115 pounds (05/13/02 OPEN RYN)
