Not with the right surgeon. Mine Dr Philip Schauer does people who have had multiple belly surgeries LAP and revisions like VBG to RNY. You may have to shop for a surgeon.

Shirley, It didnt affect my surgery, as a matter of fact when i was in surgery the dr. cleaned up all the adheasions i had in side me. I believe thats the same as scar tissue. That was from two other surgerys.

Prior to my Lap RNY I had surgery for a ruptured Ectopic, Gall Bladder removal via Lap and a C-Section. None of this caused a problem for me although they always warn you that they can not promise that they won't have a problem and need to switch to Open

I had exploratory surgery when i was 12 and then 4 c-sections and lap gallbladder! I still had lap rny in june. Surgeon said there was a lot of scar tissue but he still was able to do lap. Hope it works for you too.

When I first started my journey I was told that because I had a open gall bladder surgery previously that I could only have the open RNY. So I am going to UCLA for my surgery and will be having the open RNY. Many surgeons will not do lap on a patient who has previous abdominal surgeries but will do open RNY.

Prior to my open RNY I had 5 surgeries.. all abdominal.. I was still able to have the RNY.. The only thing my surgeon told me was I might have to have my spleen removed because of scar tissue. Thank goodness it didnt have to happen. You will do fine!!!

I had an open gall bladder and a tubal many years ago. My surgeon said it slowed him down a little, but created no problems with my lap rny
