Question:
Do you know how do I find out where my paperwork is????

It's been 2 weeks since my surgeon consult, not too long I know. My medical group is the one to approve surgery but no one knows where my paperwork is. When I call my pcp's patient services rep he says they have not received it, he even went so far as to call the surgeon's office last Thursday with me on hold, they said they had not finished the letter yet. I called the surgeon's office today and they said they had faxed it a week and a half ago ???? two different stories. They also said it takes at least 6 weeks for the approval process from my medical group but my medical group meet every Wednesday and the approval is given same day if they have it for review. I have read many good things about the surgeon's office, I have found them to be very busy and not very helpful. I have only called twice in 2 weeks and each time they tell me they know the process and I have to just wait. I'm very frustrated and don't want my paperwork to be lost, I know if it gets to my pcp and she submits it the process is quick. I am getting nowhere finding out though...any tips??????/ Mandy    — Mandy M. (posted on April 3, 2001)

Mandy, know how you are feeling. My paper work did the same thing. First ask the surgeon's off if they sent the paper work by certified mail. If they did ask them if they got a return slip. Get the # and name who sign for it and call the insurance off and let them know your pck was sent on this date and sign for in your off on this date. They will trace it on their end. Then Mandy you have to call, I do every day. I am waiting myself. I had to stay on the phone one day for about 2 hrs. Calling one office then another. My paperwork was in the office just setting and no one had sent it in to be reviewed for about 10 days. If I had not called who know how long I would have waited. So some of us have to do the extra calling. Your office sounds like the one I go to start so start calling. The insurance office will say wait 5 days or more before calling back. I called every day. Let them know you are not just waiting on paper work. But on your life. Good luck and make it work for you, Cynthia
