Question:
I am very frustrated with my treatment, what can I do???

I have had problems with the person at the surgeon's office who handles the paperwork. She kept telling me she had sent my paperwork but when my patient services rep called her she said she had not even finished the packet yet, this went on for 3 weeks, I called once a week for status. Now I have surgery approval but still no date, when I got approved I called the surgeon's office but she told me they had nothing yet, so I just had to wait, I called my medical group and they faxed over the approval right then. I called back and she had left but they would have her call me yesterday afternoon since they got the approval...no call!! I called this morning and she said she still could not give me a date since she had to 'run it by' the office manager. I asked my medical group about a different surgeon but since I'm HMO and this the doctor they contract with....many people have had great treatment there, but I really feel like I'm banging my head against the wall. Is there a way I can handle this, I would just ignore her if she would give me a date, but I'm not even getting that..    — Mandy M. (posted on April 12, 2001)

Mandy, I would call and ask for the office manager. If this is the person who is going to be responsible for making your appointment, then go straight to her/him. That is what I did and it worked great.

Mandy, sounds like a trip to the office is in order. People are a lot less rude when you are looking them in the face. See if you can get the insurance company to fax the approval to you so that you have something in your hand.

Mandy, I know the offices moved on or about the 15th of March to new offices. I ALSO know the office is stressed and short handed and it was infact my main complaint on my profile. However, I do believe I would trust Dr LePorts Office in regard to paperwork more than I would trust an insurance company. They have a routine they go by and since you must turn in your papers to actually see the doctor,... THEY must find them...Because THEY ARE THERE! Right? You are very close by...you need to call Diane or her associate and get it straightened out right away.Good luck to you.
