Question:
Incisional pain just won't go away

I am 7 weeks post op (open rny) and have burning incisional pain, especially around my waist area. It's pretty good in the mornings, but by mid-afternoon it starts burning and doesn't stop until the next morning. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to stop this pain? THANKS!!    — blank first name B. (posted on August 15, 2001)

Hi I am still pre-op. Unfortunately due to my chronic illnesses I have had several surgeries. I have a brain tumor removed almost four years ago and I have had several spine and abdomen surgeries. The incision site on all three hurt differently. The one on my head hurt for almost two years. Believe it or not I could tell when the weather was going to be bad. LOL I am serious. The one on my abdomen took almost six months to stop having a burning feel. And I have had four spinal surgeries due to psuedotumor cerebri and that is the one that healed with no problem. Go figure. I hope this helps. It's not just you.

I recently had foot ssurgery ( 6 weeks ago) and the incsion part burns/hurts, not the inside, where the surgery was done. I guess some of us heal that way.
