Question:
Can somebody tell me what this might be?

Hi everyone. I am wondering if anybody might know what this might be. I had transected Open RNY surgery on 9/6/02. About a week and a half ago, I started experiencing a wierd pain in my right side, right under my breast. If I'd move a certain way, it'll come at me really sharp and painful and BURN! It lasted only about 5 seconds and go away. I didn't have this pain everyday, some days worse than others,=. I had my 6 week checkup Nov.4 and I asked my surgeon what it might be and he said that it's muscle spasms. But today I woke up and I'm feeling (in the same spot) a different kind of pain. It's not just when I move a certain way, It's always. I mean I'm not screaming in pain, but it does hurt. I trust my surgeon, but I'm not the greatest at explaining things and I'm afraid that he may not have diagnosed this pain correctly. Does anybody know what this pain might be and should I be concerned?    — Samar M. (posted on November 10, 2002)

Do you still have your gallbladder?

Hi there, I had the same pain..It ended up being my gallbladder. Ask for an ultra scan on your gallbladder. Best of luck

Sounds like it might be gallbladder to me too. GP's don't always diagnose these things right, sounds like your doc is guessing. When I had my gallbladder out 6 years ago my GP told me the INTENSE pain I was having in between my ribcage and around my back was, get this ... a burst cyst on my ovaries! What? That's nowhere near the ovaries! =) I would have him/her refer you to a gastroenterologist if you insurance requires referral, or just go to one if you can. They'll order and ultrasound and that'll tell you if you have stones in there. Good luck.
