Question:
Does anyone have any information on liver lesions?

After completing my pre op testing I got a call telling me that I have 3 lesions on my liver and that I need a MRI next week. Has anyone else had this happen? Are we talking "Very Serious"? Will this prevent my surgery? Any information would be really appreciated. I'm pretty worried.    — Susan B. (posted on September 15, 2002)

Relax, dont panic! Being MO causes liver abnormsalties, most of which go away after loosing the weight. Liver functions improve as well. This is a co mormidity. Chances are it s weight caused and wull help you get approval...

I also had an abnormal liver test pre op. My surgeon does a liver biopsy during the surgery because liver problems (fatty liver)goes along with obesity.When I went for my 2 week last week he scared me a bit when he said now my biopsy came back abnomal!!!! Scared me to death but he assured me it is not bad BUT is sending me to a liver specialist next month. I have some scar tissue,mild Chirossis (YIKES)and fatty liver. He said he made for 3 other post ops just last week so I guess all this is normal if you are obese.

Our surgeon says the liver regenerates wonderfully that is fixes itself. Most end up fine after the big loss. Its only common sense to follow up abnormal results with a specialist.
