Question:
Will I be shaved for surgery? And a

Odd questions but...I've got a small amount of light colored hair on my tummy. Not thick, not noticiable....will they shave my tummy before surgery? And the other question...if I'm on my period...how will the blood thinners (I'm going to be given two) effect that? Will it cause me to bleed more or less or???????    — Renee B. The shaving question hmmmm it is up to each Dr. I was not shaved but I didnt have any hair either. As far as the period goes it should increase the flow because of the Heparin but mine didnt. It just lasted forever after surgery...almost a month. Good luck to you. Wendi

They didn't shave my tummy, of course, if there's hair there, it's so light that even I can barely see it. As far as being on your period - I started the day before (OF COURSE I DID!!!! ACK!!!!) and had no problems. As a matter of fact, I was totally the opposite of the previous poster and my period only lasted 3 days. Thank goodness. LOL The nurse told me that anesthesia sometimes will affect your period and make it shorter. I didn't have a blood thinner because I took TOO many aspirin products, so I can't answer your question regarding that. Good luck! :)

I have PCOS and have hari around my belly button. (Iguess this is common for Polcy Cystic Ovarian Syndrome people). Anyway they did shave around and above my belly button.

Ya know, its funny, I should've asked if my stomach was shaved. I didn't notice if it was during the time, but now my stomach is a little hairier and darker, not that bad, but its different lol. I am naturally blond, so I barely had any. Maybe just a coincidence, who knows. But like the others said, suppose its up to each surgeon. I also had my monthly friend during surgery and didn't notice much difference b/c of the blood thinners. Goodluck to you :-)
