Question:
Vitamin Size. Does anyone else have trouble with regular vitamins?

I have switched to the regular vitamins now, but I get sickly feeling everytime I take one and it lasts for a couple of hours. I think it is the size. Are there any good ones out there that are SMALL? Thanks, Lisa    — chelle_0608 (posted on October 13, 2004)

Have you tried breaking them in half? I don't have any problem with them personally. Pre-op the iron in the vitamins used to make me sick but haven't had the problem post-op. I've read on this site of people who are taking liquid vitamins and chewables although I don't remember any brands. You might try a search of the databases or go to Vitalady.com or Bariatriceating.com.

I take the One-A-Day Essentials. They are smaller than an M&M and go down easily. Some pharmacies have their own house brand version of these also - I know Walgreen's does. Good luck! hugs, Ann.....9/10/99....260/124

I get that sickly feeling if I take them only with liquids or on an empty stomach. So I suggest you take them only after eating.

I had trouble with vitamins too. I went to the Vitamin Store (in my local mall) and found a powdered vitamin mix that I add to my protein shake, or you can just mix it up alone. My labs are "awesome" (per my doctor) Kathy

One a day - ESSENTIALS (has to be essentials) is VERY small the size of a tiny M&M. There are also 'generic' essentials out there. I just got some from Reasors.

CVS has a generic One-A-Day Essential - called CVS Daily Multiple Vitamins - Essential Nutrients. There are 365 to a bottle...and they are M&M size or smaller...JR

I take a multi capsule that I purchased from vitalady.com and I like it because the capsule dissolves easily so there is no issue of it sticking. I always hold in my mouth until it begins to dissolve and then swallow. Sandra

Lisa; A good rule of thumb about the vitamins is to take one and disolve it in 1 teaspoon of vinger. If it disolves within 30 minutes it will pass within your stomach okay so then size isn't an issue. As far a the sickly feeling, try others until you find one that you like. Be sure to check out the return policy of a store and what you may be able to do with those you can't use/like. Kids chewable are great and they now have a chewable for Adults. Have fun with the crazy kid shapes and be on the lookout for the calicum for your bones as well.

I have been taking regular multivitamins for some time now. When I started to take them, after the childrens, I kind of flipped out. I flipped out because they were so huge. I am scared of them because I am afraid I will not be able to swallow them. I now split mine into fourths with a pill splitter. This may not be a good thing to do, but it is helpful. Holly H
