Try walking- it will help you get rid of the gas!

Hi Allis, until your post I had forgotten about the gas pain. It was pretty intense the first week or so. I did just as you are doing, chewing the gas-x pills, that did seem to help me. I am happy to say that the gas and burping are over after the first 2 months (I had open RNY on 6/23). Hang in there, it is all worth it.

Hi Allis- 2 things I wanted to mention: First, if it is true gas pains, those will pass. Just keep walking around and chewing your gas X. The one thing that you said that concerned me was that the feeling was the same as your pre-op gallbladder attack. I had similar pain AFTER I had my gallbladder attack. I was puzzled because it was the same pain, but I knew the gallbladder was gone. Finally it got so bad, that I went to the hospital. It turned out to be pancreatitis. I was in the hospital for several days. It seems that sludge had built up in the common duct, and none of the bile from my liver or pancreas could pass through. Pancreatitis can be fatal in some cases, so check with your dr if the pain persists. My pain was accompanied by a lot of thirst, so if you have those symptoms, please see your dr. Good luck!
