Question:
I'm never hungry, how will I ever get enough food and water ?

I feel that a bird eats more than I do. I'm never hungry and even though I keep water by my side all day, I can never finish it. I'm afraid that I'm not getting enough of whatI need to stay healthy. I've lost 40lbs.    — Billie M. (posted on June 13, 2001)

I understand how you feel. when i was on phen fen i had NO appetite whatsoever, eating wouldn't even cross my mind. I had to make myself eat so i set up regular times and that is what i did. When it turned whatever time, i ate. Your body will not lose if you don't eat, it will go into hibernation mode to reserve the fat you have and you will feel very weak from lack of nutrients. If you find it hard to even force down the food eat several very small meals during the day.

Another good thing to do if you are worried about not getting the appropriate protein intake is the protein powder mix that we all were required to get from GNC. I use the whey protein chocolate. It makes sure that you get the amount of protein required daily by the amount set up by your dietician after surgery. It is so important for your muscles etc. Good luck

When I read your question I thought it was me asking. I am in your exact situation. I have lost 40 pounds (had rny 3 wks ago) and don't barely eat anything. I saw the nutritionist yesterday she said I'm supposed to eat 60 grams of protein a day and she thinks I'm getting 10. When I told her that I don't think I'm getting 60 grams of anything she just blew me off. I think that the answer is that soon the pouch will expand/ the opening will expand and we will be able to eat enough to get the proper protein and water in. I just found a liquid protein that goes into tea it was from vita4life. Good luck

I TOO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM....GOOD EARTH HAS A PROTEIN SUPPLEMENT CALLED BIOPLEX....THEIR IS NO TASTE TO IT AT ALL! YOU CAN ADD IT TO ANY LIQUID...IT HAS 20MG OF PROTEIN PER SCOOP! VERY REASONABLLY PRICED ALSO, AROUND $35.00 FOR A HUGE TUB!

I feel the same exact way! And I have already been paying my dues for not drinking the allotted amount of water! I just went in to my primary care physician yesterday because I have a urinary tract infection! I'm only 18 days post-op, and Doc said having a catheter in can increase the chance of infection. But I've learned my lesson, and somehow bottled water is more appealing to me than it was two days ago! I also found a really good herbal tea that I like called Raspberry Zinger by Celestial Seasonings. I put a Splenda packet in it. It's sweet and good!

I'm right there with you. I'm six wks post op and haven't been hungry since the surgery. I don't eat very much at all and 20 mins. later I'm feeling stuffed. I've lost 44 lbs. but now seem to be in a slump - no lbs. lost in 2 wks. that I know of. I try not to weigh very often. I also cannot drink but a couple of swallows of water. Water seems to bother me going down more than anything. Nice to know someone else is at the same point as I am. Linda Crumley

Try to eat all that your doctor or dietician wants you to for what stage of eating you're in. If you totally shut down and don't eat enough or anything at all, your body will stop losing weight because it will go into famine stage and think that you are starving. Also you must feed your body enough protein or it will being to eat it from your body muscle. This surgery is designed to make you not feel hungry, but you have to make yourself eat and drink what you are supposed to so it doesn't shut down and you continue your weight loss.

Hi, I had my surgery about 8wks ago, I've lost 47pds, I too was feeling the same way til I figured out a way to get more liquids and fruit in. I blend up watermelon, grapes, or cantelope (what ever I'm in the mood for) with ice and Minute Maid "Light" Orange/Tangerine drink and blend it all up together, it's so good and very refreshing. For some reason I eat/drink this and not feel as full as food makes me feel. Maybe you can try. Good luck
