Dr. Bathwaite and his staff especially Nurse practioner Barbera Smith are great folks! Dr.Brathwaite is a quiet, and kind gentleman. answered all questions I had and did a great job with all the follow up stuff. He and his staff literally saved my life and I am thankful that God put people on this earth like him for people like me. they set me up with a nutrtionalist 2 weeks after my surgery and I go back in Feb. 2002 for my next follow up-

I've met with Dr. Brathwaite once, he is a very
nice person and very soft spoken. His nurse practioner
Barabara Smith, NP is very nice and very helpful
and resourceful with any questions you might have
she pretty much has all the answers.

My first impression was a positive one. Thereafter it only got better. I received many "he is excellent" from several other doctors as well as his other patients. One of which is a nurse in surgery and has first hand knowledge of his skill and results. HIs office staff was very kind, friendly and very informative. I felt very well prepared both physically and emotionally for the surgery and the very structured post op care. The only negative aspects that I can think of are minor. I would liked to have seen the Dr more often but as I had no complications, I realize it wasn't necessary. The other concerns the in-hospital stay. The nurses were skillful, friendly and encouraging but Nursing care is different today. I would recommend you have someone with you after surgery-a relative or family member to help you with the llittle things at first. Patients have to be independent to a degree. I did, however, receive good care and am very happy with everything. I almost forgot to mention that his pain management post op is excellent. The morphine pump was worked very well, I was more comfortable than I expected and was able to do the breathing exercises and the coughing so necessary postop.

I have only met Dr Brathwaite for a few minutes but he seemed very nice...and very busy. He has a nurse practitioner named Barbara Smith who I have done most of my presurgical appointments with.
Dr Brathwaite is a very quiet caring man who took the time to answer all of my questions and concerns and wanted me to have a clear understanding of what he would be doing. His staff takes time with you and calls you back which I really appreciated. I rate him A+ all the way

My Surgon was Dr. Collin Brathwaite in Stony Brook University Hospital. He was exceptional. He has great bedside manner, passionate about this surgery. you can really tell he loves what he does and loves seeing the success of his patients. The staff he works with is excellent. I you have a question even a stupid one his nurse practitioner will get back to as soon as she can. He has a extensive screening process. This is to make sure you are ready for what you are about to do. He has a weekley support group open to anyone pre, post or even thinking and it wonderful.I highly recommennd him.

Very Distinqished quiet compassionate man.

Office was very nice triple seats were available, office staff very nice and helpful
He took all the time we needed to discuss the surgery and after care and what post-op would be like barring any complications and discused these possiblities and the risk involved/
Future paitients should know he has a very long waiting list make an appt you aren't required to make a decision on the spot.
He emphasizes after care as important for the very best results. Group support strongly advised but not required.
He very calmly discused the risks and answered all our questions and advised is to call if we have any further questions.
he has a structured after care program they will discuss with me after surgery/I don't know the answers to the surgical competence or bedside manner as yet,but I would say for me while bedside manner is important especially when you are hurting after surgery but surgical competence is the most important to me.
