I was referred to Dr. Haggerty by my primary care physician in January 2010. The first time I met him I thought we was a little distant and I was a little concerned about his bedside manner because I am used to really being able to talk and joke with my doctors but he was very knowledgeable and that was what I felt was important. By the next visit though I felt we formed a doctor/patient relationship and I was able to talk with him and it was obvious he genuinely cared about my well being. His office staff is FANTASTIC, these women are the most caring, friendly, genuine people I have met in a doctors office and they made me feel comfortable at all times. Dr. Haggerty and his staff were very up front about the risks of surgery and made sure I was well aware of what I was getting into. I truly appreciated their honesty. I had a few issues post op and both Dr. Haggerty and his staff were always available to answer my questions, they never made me feel like I was asking stupid questions. Overall I would highly recommend Dr. Haggerty. You might have to get used to his bedside manner but he truly does care.

First impression was caring and professional. That impression never changed, although post-op there was a definite sense of humor that was not noted pre-op.

I find the office staff to be extraordinarily helpful and willing to respond as quickly as they can, even (perhaps especially?) to paranoia questions. I have heard that some people have quarrels with the no-nonsense attitude of the staff, but I'd rather have the straight story from the start than having things glossed over, so I'm very happy with them.

Future patients should know that Dr. Denham does the surgery, but aftercare is provided (unless it involves further surgery or surgical complications) by nurse practitioners and dieticians. The system works well for me.

Aftercare is hugely emphasized - regular visits, regular data checks, monthly education groups, reminders that, forever, if you regain as little as 8 pounds to come in for assistance. The intent is to help you lose and KEEP IT OFF.

Risks of surgery were delineated several times, including those which are extremely minimal. Search online for complaints or problems revealed only that some people didn't like the office staff - no complaints about Dr. Denham or any of his surgeries.

Overall, superb program. I found both surgical competence and bedside manner to be excellent. The only quibble I have is that it is difficult to schedule appointments - he's good enough to be extremely busy!

My first impression of Dr. Denham was that he was very caring and informative! He laid all the information out so you knew about the good, the bad and the ugly. He explained the different kind of procedures and let me know which type he recommended for me, but said that it was my choice. I have heard soooooo many positive things about him from other patients and from every healthcare professional that I've come in contact with since the beginning of this journey. He was actually recommended to me from my vascular surgeon, who said she would let him operate on her without a doubt!! To hear another surgeon say that is BIG TIME! They know who's good and who's not! The Dr. who performed my EDG said that he is GREAT, the nurse in the pre-op area before my EDG said he is the WLS God! I'm a bit nervous about my upcoming surgery, but I am very confidant in the surgeon! I would recommend Dr. Denham to anyone who is looking. Also, Liz Farwell, who is an NP and Bariatric Coordinator at his office is just too awesome! She's great, she tells it like it is and is very easy to talk to!

Excellent surgeon. Did a great job with laparoscopic surgery. I was the first patient to be given a pain pump to use local anesthetic internally. I had to wear a bag around my neck connected to the tubes going into my belly. It eliminated the need for narcotic pain medication. I took only Torodol and the pain pump. A week after surgery I was able to walk a mile without resting. Two months after surgery I was rowing, walking, swimming, cycling every day. Prior to surgery I was on three diabetic medications and could not get my A1C below 8.3. Three months post op my A1C was 6.0, my total cholesterol was 123, and I was taking no diabetes medication. Dr. Haggety is very professional. His staff are very competent. They worked with me and my insurance despite insurance obstacles. He works with the Weight Management Center and also provided information on the groups and internet site. I would recommend him highly to new patients.

Dr. Haggerty is the BEST DOCTOR!!rnrnI found Dr. Haggerty after I did my doctor referral search on Obesityhelp.com. I am so happy with my results and this is the main reason why I am sharing my experience with you - - Dr. Haggerty has the ability to make you feel and know he is doing everything in his power to help you with your weight loss journey!!!rnrnDr. Haggerty knows his stuff!!! He answers all your weight loss surgery questions completely and makes sure you understand them. His gentle bed side mannerism and his power of versatility to deal with my fears of doctors, pain & needles made me feel safe and secure… I knew I selected the right doctor!!!rnrnrnSo, if you are looking for a doctor who “treats you as a person & the symptoms…verses a doctor who just treats the symptom…then Dr. Haggerty is for you”. If you are looking for a doctor/practice that will continuously provide you with the support & resources for you to continue your weight loss journey after the surgery then… Dr. Haggerty is for you!!rnrnrnTo me what differentiates a good doctor from a GREAT DOCTOR is a doctor who is not only a weight-loss subject matter expert/doctor, but a doctor who can do that and treats each patient as an individual verses… just a number…just another action item on his list… Dr. Haggerty IS GREAT DOCTOR!!! rnrnrnThe final personal piece of advice I can give you is…Know that there is more to weight loss than just having weight loss surgery. It’s about having the right support and resources available to you to help you on your journey….which leads me my 1st lap band adjustment with Dr. Haggerty…Like I said he is very sensitive to my fear of doctors/pain and needles… When he was preparing me for the adjustment he verbally told me what he was going to do and then gently walked me through the procedure. I tell you… I couldn’t believe it…The procedure was almost painless!rnrnrnI am very lucky to have Dr. Haggerty as my doctor. I wish you great success with your weight loss journey and look forward to sharing mutual Dr. Haggerty success stories with you!!!rn
