Dr. Jones was very personalble. He made my husband and I feel very comfortable. He took his time to make sure that every question I had was answered. His staff was also very friendly.

Because my surgery is lap, there will be 2 doctors performing. Dr. Jones and Dr. Wetherille. Both are very professional and respectful. I have had nothing but a great experience so far. The nurse that works with bariatric patients is Mary Pat and she is wonderful. I would recommend them highly.

Dr Jones is straight forward, but very comforting as well. I realized after meeting with him a couple of times that he has a sense of humor, but can still stay focused on helping you. I am very comfortable knowing he will be my surgeon, he has a way of explaining the surgery and possible complications in a complete manner, yet you know he is confident in his skills. It does take awhile to get into his system, you must first meet with his nurse and see a nutritionist. To get an appointment to even meet his nurse Mary Pat took me several months, but once I was in the system it moved swiftly. I especially like the idea of his aftercare i.e. seeing the nutritionist. I think this will be a great help for me especially because of my food obsession. I I'll let you know more after my surgery.

acidentally hit wrong button on my computer and did not finish my log about Dr. Jones. I wanted to let anyone who is using him as a surgeon know that he did an extremley good job, (I had it done Lapri) and the pain was so very minimal, that only one week after my surgery I would tell anyone that I would have it done in a heartbeat again!!!

Very nice, very busy. I work mostly with
his nurse, Mary Pat, who is very patient.
They were very concerned with making sure
I knew the risks involved. Be prepared for a
long wait for the surgery, since he is in
high demand.

He is very nice he took the time to answer any quetions. His name says alot about him for any one that knows TOm Jones the singer.

His nurse has been very helpful so far I have called her a couple of times with questions and she has always responded to me as soon as she could.

There was nothing I didnt like about him or his staff.

They emphisize the aftercare very much on how important it is.

Yes they do.
they addressed the risk very much on things that could go wrong and the percentage rates.

I would rate them at a 10 so far.

Dr. Tom Jones is a very friendly, to-the-point surgeon who knows that what he does helps people that not many others are trying to help. He wants to be conservative in his approaches... for example he did not want to do my surgery by scope because he said the open incision was a safer, more reliable procedure for someone my size (BMI 49). I found him very easy to deal with, very encouraging and extremely good at what he does. He was thorough in his discussion of risks and has over 400 procedures behind him (fewer than 20 via scope at this time 7/31/01). I would give him a 10 for both surgical expertise and bedside manner. He also has two excellent surgeons who work on his team and share in the hospital visits etc.

Dr. Jones approach to the surgery was very organized. If interested, you first meet with his nurse to start the process. After this meeting, you proceed through any and all tests that must be performed prior to the surgery. When I completed this process I then submitted all information to Dr. Jones office, contacted my insurance which is United Health Care, got the number to submit the information to and then Dr. Jones nurse, Mary Pat submitted it to them. I was approved within 24 hours. The upfront work that Mary Pat does is very thorough and paved the way for my approval. The ease at which I was approved had a lot to do with my own insurance plan, but I did appreciate the support in getting there from Mary Pat. Once I had the approval, I then met with Dr. Jones and received a surgery date. I was asked to quit smoking but was not required to lose any weight prior to surgery. My first impression of Dr. Jones was that he truly wished to help people get a second chance at life. He didn't say a lot, but reiiterated the risks that Mary Pat had spelled out for me. He was humorous and caring and I felt very safe being in his care. I had heard from many other doctors and nurses how competent he was and thus began my wait time for the surgery. He visited me personally in the hospital every day that I was there which included a weekend. I was hospitalized for 6 days. He was extremely kind to my parents and explained everything in detail to them after I came out of surgery. They thought a lot of him and received a lot of information and assurance from him. He is a general surgeon and able to take care of other problems you may be having during the time of surgery such as gall bladder removal, etc. The aftercare program is good and I feel free to call them at any time with problems. I saw him one week after surgery, his nurse two weeks postop, and Dr. Jones again four weeks postop. On a scale from one to ten, I would rate Dr. Jones and Mary Pat an eights. I trusted them. Not only are they both extremely competent but also have great bedside manners. Mary Pat also conducts a support group meeting for WLS patients one night a month. I have yet to attend my first one but am looking forward to it.

first impression was great. the first thing he said to me was "what are you most worried about?" he was very kind, took his time. his nurse mary pat has been lovely to deal with.
he requires an ongoing commitment to meet with a dietitian.
was clear about the risks, did not skirt around them or avoid my questions about them answered them directly.
am feeling very comfortable with him.
my only real conflict was it took 3 months to get sn sppointment, but mary pat called me with a cancellation so i saw him about 6 weeks after first contact. he was running late, the hour appointment took 3 hours. but he spent nearly 2 hours with me so i think it is worth the wait.
