Absolutely love Dr. Mueller and could not have been happier with my choice for him as my surgeon. He is honest, straight to the point, and incredibly easy to talk to. I felt very comfortable with him and he always made the time to talk to me and answer questions. His staff was very helpful although busy I felt very well cared for.

On October 8, 2001, Dr Mueller spent seven hours working on my RYN and over twelve years later it is obvious he did an excellent job on the surgery. While there were complications due to how new this proceedure was in 2001, today the RYN surgery has become routine. The seven habits I needed to change have stayed with me and this is also why I have maintained over 150 pound weight loss during the past twelve years. (No liquid until 45 minutes after I eat, no soda or carbonated beverages, no alcohol, no chewing gum, no drinking with a straw, no coconut and attend a monthly bariactric support group). Through it all, I feel blessed to have had Dr George Mueller as my surgeon.

Right now I am about 3 1/2 months post-op. I am SO happy I had the surgery with Dr. Mueller. He is a very knowledgeable surgeon, and has great staff at his office. The Bariatric Nurse, dietician, everyone there is very friendly. They answer any questions I may have, give me friendly reminders about things i may be missing (such as vitamins, whoops), and have always given great feed back and tools to help me.

Before I had the surgery, I went to the mandatory meeting where i received a LOT of information, a whole binder full, that gave me everything I would need to know going in to the surgery about what to expect before, during, and after the surgery at the hospital and at home. It allowed me to be at ease and helped my husband really get an understanding. At the hospital the morning of the surgery, I went back and the Dr and the Bariatric Nurse both came to see me before I went back to just let me know that we were ready, reassure me, and make sure I was good to go. After the surgery I did have to stay in recovery longer than normal (usually people get in and out of recovery in one hour, I was there 3 hours) due to throwing up, however they took great care of me.

Best advice for at the hospital they gave me, WALK. It really does help. Whenever you can (even if you don't feel like it), get up and walk around. It helps the gas bubbles, gives you something to do, and gets the pain to ease up some.

Thank you Dr. Mueller for what I consider being a life changing event in my life :) The office provides weekly support groups (I am hoping to attend once my work schedule relaxes some and I don't work every day and night), but I have heard great things over all about it, and love getting updates from it :)

I read many of the reviews of Dr. Mueller & as well spoken of as he was in those reviews they are not my sentiments, I wish they were because he is a nice guy. I have found Dr. Mueller to be to much of a hands off Doctor. he is kind when I see him & polite but that is not solving my problems. I have since the surgery experienced a sensational hunger that has never went away though I was told I don't have the problem. It concerns me and controls me. It is a constant battle for me to stay thinner which is why I had the surgery in the first place as well as to eliminate medical issues. Those medical problems have not subsided as well as my weight lost is going back up. I never get any encouragement from that group. They stop the exercise class. They have no transportation access to the support classes for people such as my self who have no way of getting to them and they provide no additional help. I am very disappointed with my services here. I want to be somewhere with someone that cares about me as a patient and that can reassure me that I will be a success in my endeavor, and will be there in every-way to reassure me that they will assist in making that happen. I am a very distraught client or patient.

My VSG experience with Dr. Mueller was phenomenal. I almost made the mistake of going to UCSD for this surgery and subjecting myself to several experimental methods of this procedure and I am so glad that someone I knew recommended me to Mueller's office. I had actually seen the good Dr. back in 2006 when I was considering WLS but I chickened out then. He and his office are extremely informed; he has Cheryl, a specially trained bariatric nurse, on his staff and she, too, is awesome. The whole staff is! Their program is very thorough, lots of education is provided to the patients, and the support groups are worth-while. I am blessed to say that my surgery was a cakewalk, and I had no need for the pain medication. I was up walking 2 hours after surgery. My experience at Sharp Memorial was superb. I was treated with lots of care and my surgeon, nutritionist, and bariatric nurse checked in on me on the day of my departure, which was one day after surgery. My life is changing in many positive ways and I can't thank Dr. Mueller and his staff enough!

Dr Mueller is awesome! He is personable, confident and straightforward. He is a wealth of knowledge and has no problem sitting down with you and answering all your questions (no matter how long that might take). His staff is also absolutely FABULOUS! I've worked with other great doctors who have had poor staff, which made the overall experience a bad one - but not with Dr Mueller!! I can't say enough good things about Leti (the insurance coordinator, and in my case, my personal insurance hand-holder) and Laura (the nutritionist).

After surgery, I woke up from my sleeve gastrectomy surgery with no pain. Both Dr Mueller and his staff took an active role in overseeing my rescovery and my progress. I was really afraid that after surgery I would have been our on my own, but that is definitely NOT the case. I really have nothing bad to say about Dr Mueller at all. He rocks!!

The only thing that I didn't like as much was the hospital (Sharp Memorial). It wasn't a bad experience, but the nursing staff left a bit to be desired. But the overall hospital experience has improved quite a bit since I last stayed at Sharp Memorial a few years ago for a gallbladder surgery in 2008.

I would recommend Dr Mueller to anyone thinking about WLS, there is no better surgeon around! I went through surgery with virtually no pain at all and once I went home I never used the prescribed pain medication even once! In fact, I told friends that if I didn't have the incisions on my stomach, I would not have believed that I really had any surgery at all! I previously had a lap band surgery by a different local surgeon and the difference was night and day. I only saw that other surgeon a few times in 3 years with the lap band, had trouble getting questions answered post-op and I even felt like I was being judged when I didn't have the expected results with the lap band. However, I'm only 2 weeks post-op and I've already seen more of Dr. Mueller than I saw of that other surgeon in 3 years; Dr.Mueller throughly answered all my questions both pre-op and post-op; he and his staff provide wonderful support and everybody on his staff has been exceedingly helpful and friendly! Again, I recommend Dr. Mueller to anyone considering WLS!!!!

(The instructions with posting this review indicated that completely 100% positive reviews are not helpful and are even suspect. However, I truly, truly, TRULY have nothing negative I can say about Dr. Mueller. If I have to say something negative, I will say that he is bald. Wait....I can't say that, I'm mostly bald myself. So never mind, nothing negative to say!)

I first went to the seminar and was well educated. I thought the lap band was the way to go. All the way up to the first office visit. Then we talked about the VSG which to me was the least of my options. Then I realized it was the right choice for me. I have had a wonderful recovery. He was excellent in the office and the hospital. His personality really helps you feel like this is a "normal" thing we are doing. So the comfort I felt made it all so much easier. He definetely makes you feel like morbid obesity is so normal.
