I thought he was hot lol and young. He seemed very concerned about my past. I felt I had to beg him to consider me. It seemed it is very important for him to make sure you will succeed and show up for your follow up. The staff is great! Susan, Mary Martha & Jeff are all really laid back and easy to talk to. The process is long and slow. But maybe it is all for the best. The support group and the website are really helpful. I give them a 10 out of 10!

I have only seen Dr. \"Fuzz\" (as he likes to called) one time in his office. He was everything I expected him to be, and more! I knew going in, that Fuzz was very young (37 years old). He does not act young in a \"cocky\" kind of way. He acts young in an innovative way. He seems very confident, yet very caring and concerned for his patients. He will not operate on just anyone, just to be operating! I have gone to his team's support group meetings for the past 9 months (pre-op) and he has been present at all except a couple of those meetings! I think that also speaks very highly of him as a surgeon. He doesn't have to come to 2-hour support group meetings and take questons from both pre-op and post-op patients, yet he does this and he is very patient and very detailed with his explanations. I have learned so much just from these support group meetings! He has also put together an excellent team with a great nurse co-ordinator, a really cool physchiatrist, and a very sweet, knowledgeable nutritionist - all of these folks work great together and seem to genuinely care about ME as a patient.rnrn

Fuzz is an incredible human being. He is thorough, and doesn't miss a beat. He doesn't candy coat anything, but has the ability to put your mind at ease. Looking back at where I've been and how far I've come, there is no way that I couldn't have done it with out this wonderful man. On a 10 pt scale, I would rank him an 11.

My first impression of "Fuzz" was..."Boy is he a hottie!" *laugh* Ok, seriously, my first impression was "this guy looks way to young to be such a well known surgeon". After 20 minutes of conversation, I was completely won over that he was the doctor for me. He was completely honest and welcomed all questions regarding his mortality rates and complications that have arisen from surgeries he has performed.

His nurse manager, Susan, is just wonderful. She is very patient and knowledgeable and she has a nice sense of humor. She always gets back to you when you leave her phone messages or send her emails.

The psychiatrist Fuzz uses, Dr. Jeff Smith, is a great guy. He made me feel very comfortable during my psych consult and completed my required paperwork quickly and efficiently.

The nutritionist Fuzz uses, Mary Martha Smoak, is also a nice lady. She was very helpful during my inital consultation. She is a little slow getting the paperwork back to the surgeon because she is a very busy lady, but in the end, everything was in order.

Dr. Fuzz places great emphasis on after care. His patients are required to see both Dr. Smith and Mary Martha each time they see him for the first year after surgery. There is also a monthly support group meeting that is well attended by both pre-ops and post-ops.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give him a solid 10.

Dr. Fuzz Fernandez is everything that you look for in a surgeon....friendly, knowledgeable, easy to communicate with and very particular with all that are entrusted to his care. His first impression is great and gets better from there. His staff is very attentive and available. The aftercare required in this program is phenomenal in order to retrain our eating and exercise behaviors. I am extremely pleased with my surgeon of choice and the fact that he makes me feel appreciated as well!

My first impression of Dr. Fernandez was that he is very compassionate. Anyone who will take time out of a busy day like his to join each support group we have and answer questions, is a caring person. He wants those people, that come to him for help, to succeed in there weight loss efforts. That is why him and his entire team dedicate themselves to what they do. Susan Butler, the nurse coordinator, is also very loving and compassionate. I know that when I have my surgery, I will have all the support humanly possible. They stress aftercare because that is in fact the most important part of the journey. The initial consult with Dr. Fernandez aka Fuzz was great. By then I had already been informed about all the risks and benefits. Thanks to Fuzz, Susan, Mary Martha(nutritionist) and Jeff (Phsycologist) for helping us all through this process. You're GREAT!!!!!!!!!!

Dr. Fernandez is professional and courteous. He is excellent at his profession. He was informative and attentive. I would highly recommend him.

I am lucky to be one of the people to be cared for by Susan. She is a no nonsense person with a gigantic heart! She genuinely cares for each person that walks through her door and I am grateful for her.
Dr. Fuzz, what can I say he is a great guy and an even better surgeon! If anybody in a 60 mile radius goes to another WLS surgeon they are crazy! Dr. Fuzz is the BEST! The whole staff is excellent at the hospital also.

Dr. Fuzz was amazing! I could not have asked for a better surgeon.... Between him and susan I know i will be taken care of to the fullest! Everyone was sooo nice and very attentive to my needs. I have no doubt that I picked the right facility and staff! A++ on my scale!
