I had my surgery scheduled with a previous surgeon, but 2 days before surgery he cancelled. I had to start the whole process over again which took a few more months, but was well worth the wait when I got to meet my new surgeon. Dr. Ahmed/Stony Brook, NY. WOW!! What a great guy, fantastic bedside manner, thoroughly explained everything to my husband and myself, was very patient and a pleasure to be at my bedside. He greeted us with a smile and that smile was present every time I met with him. I felt very comfortable with him as my surgeon due to the amount of experience he had.

I really like him and had all tests done and Im waiting for a date.

I originally thought I would have Dr. Collin Brathwaite as my surgeon, but he decided that I was a great candidate for LAP RNY, not open, so it appears I will have Dr. Arif Ahmad. He is a soft spoken gentlemen, who explained various points of the operation to me. I had already attended an informational meeting, so I knew most of the basics. He answered all my questions, asked me some, and generally gave me a good feeling. His support staff is excellent. I called a few days later with some questions, received a call back an hour later with information.
