The following are my own personal impressions of my own personal experience and I am making no statements about what other people may experience!


Dr Bordelon was kind and made me feel comfortable from the beginning. He walked step by step through the wls process and answered all the questions I had (even the trivial ones!) He made sure I understood the risks and possible complications of the surgery. I was a bit nervous to find out I was his second ever laproscopic RNY patient yet he set my mind at ease when he assured me he had completed numerous RNY surgeries using the traditional method. Dr. Bordelon continued to be supportive and offered several ideas when I mentioned I was having problems with liquid intake and nausea. I developed an abcess and infection at one of the incision sites shortly after being released from the hospital. I imediately panicked thinking my insides were filled with the infection. Dr. Bordelon calmly told me to keep a heating pad on the site and to come back to the office the following Monday for a follow up. At the time I thought he had no idea what he was talking about although I didn't tell him that! It turns out he was absolutely correct- it was not life threatening, and while the infection was uncomfortable, it was not a big deal! I wish he would have been able to have seen me over the weekend or would have referred me to an on call Dr. so my weekend would have been a little less stressful. That's about the only negative feedback I can think of and it was minor.

The whole staff in his office were friendly and helpful. Quick to compliment when I went back for my 1 month check up and returned my calls right away. I was impressed with the aftercare program. I knew what types of food and portion size, how much I was to be exercising and which supplements I was to take. I still use the handouts I was given.

Overall, I had an extremely positive experience with Dr. Bordelon and his staff.

The hospital I was at for the surgery- well that is a different story for a different day. I cannot even begin to explain the miserable time I personally had at that location and hope NOBODY ever has to go though the experience I had with that hospital staff. It's late tonight but will look for a hospital review section to post my experience. Hope this helps.
