  • About Me

    Dr. David Provost has practiced bariatric surgery for nearly 20 years and has helped thousands of patients live longer, healthier lives through the surgical treatment of obesity. He is an active member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and sits on the Board of Directors for the ASMBS Foundation. In 2009, he was named Chairman of the Bariatric Surgical Review Committee for the Surgical Review Corporation. He was awarded "Best Doctor in Dallas" in D Magazine from 2005-2009 and a "Texas Super Doctor" in Texas Monthly Magazine in 2008.

    Dr. Provost attended medical school at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, graduating fourth in his class of more than 200 medical students. He remained at UT Southwestern to conduct his residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital and became an Assistant Professor in 1995. Dr. Provost went on to become the Medical Director for the Surgical Management of Obesity at UT Southwestern Medical Center from 2000-2008. He has taught bariatric surgery procedures to hundreds of medical students and doctors and is also a featured medical expert on the Weight Loss Surgery Channel. He was the director of the Bariatric/ Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship at UT Southwestern from 2001-2008.

    Dr. Provost is proud to open a new practice in Denton to continue providing expert care to weight loss surgery patients from all parts of the country. His areas of specialization include LapBand, laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, and revisional surgery for the management of complications and failures of prior weight loss surgery operations.

    A strong proponent of patient support both before and after bariatric surgery, Dr. Provost's practice also offers a complimentary patient services program including bi-monthly weight loss surgery support groups and group walks, an annual Christmas party, a clothing exchange, photo wall, and patient connections list.

    Dr Provost requires life-long follow up for all his patients and all patients are managed in his office by himself or his PA.
