Dr.Bautista is a wonderful and kind man. I was actually looking into Dr.Hutcher to perform the surgery. I went to Dr.Bautista's seminar and I fell in love. He told us why he became a doctor, and why he did this type of surgery. He said that he felt like he was truly helping people. When they came to him at one size and then to see them later and their lives so much healthier and they are happy. You could tell that he really cared for his patients. When I met him one on one it was no different. He explains things to you so you know the risks and you can tell that he is on your side. He is a wonderful man!

I met the Dr. at the information meeting. I found him to be a well informed person or doctor about the procedure.I felt very vise about him. After meeting with Dr.Bautista I felt that I would be in good hand also since I am a native of New York where most of friends had names that meant something and I new his name had something to do with God I knew than this was a go.When I visit his office if their was any questionsif their was any questions I wanted to ask he was ready to answer them.
I really can't think of anything I liked least about him. I am a christion woman and I always look for the good in people so I went in with a good attitude, I 'am a happy person by nature.Dr. Bautista is a great human-being first and I can say he is a great doctor and aftercare is very important to him. Also his staff and all of the nurses at St Mary's hospital was great I was in the company of many angel. Also I think that surgical competence is important because this is the temple that the Lord has given me but bedside manner is great also.

He's an ex-Navy surgeon and was trained to do laps. My first impression was that he was a surgeon that didn't want to deal with people who didn't research and understand what WLS requires.
Everyone in his office was very nice and professional. It was obvious they had worked there long enough to feel comfortable in their position.
There really wasn't anything I didn't like. He took all the time with us we needed and made sure we understood the process and aftercare. He allowed ample time for questions and answered them fully. He was very knowledgeable & confident, and was quite personable.
Any future patients should be aware that he is very serious about the whole process. If you haven't researched and aren't aware that this is permanent and will require you to work hard for the rest of your life, then you're not an ideal candidate for WLS.
He greatly emphasized aftercare. He makes sure you're aware he's giving you the "tool" to lose weight. You have to make sure to follow the instructions and careful diet planning in order for it to be successful. If you overeat, don't exercise, don't take in fluids, etc., you may have complications.
His group has very structured before and aftercare. You have regular appointments you must come in for, and support groups meet regularly.
He went down a list of complications that are specific to WLS, and also discussed those that may be specific to your own medical history.
Overall I was very pleased with his care and planning.
I would rate great his surgical competence and his low to non-existent complication rate.

Dr. Bautista is the perfect balance of personal care and straight fact (regarding risks, etc.).

The entire practice is dedicated to your success...from day one through the remainder of your life.

For me personally, the straight forward approach was well received. The risks were presented to me very matter of fact, but NEVER rude.

Currently, I am 9 weeks post-op and have not encountered a single negative thing. My small complication (stricture) has been dealt with in a caring way. Every effort has been made by the staff to make me succeed!

MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR. BAUTISTA WAS THAT HE WAS VERY EASY TO TALK TO AND HE WAS VERY REAL! HE ANSWERED ALL OUR QUESTIONS WITHOUT HESITATION AS HE GAVE THE INFORMATIONAL MEETING THAT I ATTENDED. HE WAS VERY CONFIDENT IN HIS WORK AND I LIKE THAT ABOUT HIM.HE MADE SURE THAT AFTER HE EXPLAINED SOMETHING HE STOPPED RIGHT THEN AND ASKED IF WE HAD ANY QUESTIONS.HE WAS A VERY FRIENDLY PERSON AND JUST OVERALL CARING YOU COULD TELL THAT HE WAS CONCERNED AND NOT JUST DOING IT TO MAKE THE BIG BUCKS.

He seems very abrupt at first, but as I had more and more encounters with him I realize he is just very upfront about gastric bypass, and doesn't want you to have any surprises. I am very glad that I chose him as my surgeon. Any or all of the employees I have met and spoken with at Common Wealth Surgeons have been so nice. Nothing could beat Jeannene Moss. (nurse prac)
I guess what I liked least about Dr Bautista was one simple little thing, like I said, he is abrupt, which is ok, but I felt he could spend just a little more time on patient/dr relationship. To some this isn't important, but its always been a plus for me. He is very thorough. As far as aftercare, the protein, protein, protein, (diet) and a succesful surgery seemed to be most important to him, at this time I will probably learn more about his aftercare practices in the next few weeks.
In my opinion his overall rating would be an 8, and as I stated above, his surgical competence was great.
