Ernest Cudjoe Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.

I love Dr. Cudjoe! He may not talk much, but he when he does, he knows what he's talking about. I first met him in June 2010, when I attended a seminar on WLS. I knew then, that when I was able to get my surgery, that I wanted it with Dr. Cudjoe. My first appointment with him in Nov 2010, was great. I got him to talk off subject, and we had a fun time. I liked that he didn't have to be professional during my whole visit, and that he let his guard down. We put my surgery on the fast track, and my surgery was done on Dec 21, 2010. Every time, I visit w/Dr. Cudjoe or his staff, I leave the office, in a great mood. It actually is a visit, I look forward to making. The whole staff is incredible, and most of them, have had WLS themselves.

My first impression of Dr. Cudjoe is he is not a man of many words. Gratiot Bariatric Treatment Centers office staff in Alma is amazing, the office staff is so nice and kind, they go above and beyond. Every question I had Dr. Cudjoe answered for me.

Dr. Cudjoe's office is awesome. Everyone has been very helpful, and have gone above and beyond. Dr. Cudjoe is pretty quiet but he makes sure all your questions are answered.

For the most part, the experience has been very good. I got more and better information from the office staff than the physician himself, but he has answered every question that I asked him.

Dr. Cudjoe is a AWESOME surgeon. He cares about the person not just getting the surgery done to make some money. He delayed my surgery twice because he didn't like what he saw in my lab work and sent me to a specialist to have things checked out. Didn't have anything wrong but I could tell it was hard for him to delay the surgery because I have worked so hard to get it. I didn't have any issues what so ever with Dr. Cudjoe or his office. I would recomend Dr. Cudjoe and Gratiot Medical Center to anyone that is looking at having WLS.rnTrentrnrnUPDATE: July 11th, 2008rnrnWell it has been almost 3 years since my surgery and rebirth. Dr Cudjoe is the same carring person. I am proud to say I am part of his team now. I work with Patient Support for the doctors office. A very good natured guy. Tammy, his bariatric coordinator, is extremely warm and professional. She is ON TOP OF EVERYTHING! The whole staff is just excellent. I can't say enough good things about them.

Dr. Cudjoe is the best. I love his bedside manners and he has always been there when i have questions.. I started my journey in November 04 and in january 11, 2005 i had my lap band surgery and today April 17, 2006 i have lost almost 80 lbs. i struggle with eating right now after i have lost all the weight but i beleive the support groups help with that also .. Dr. Cudjoes office staff is great and very helpful. I didn't have any problems with insurance and with the high blood pressure i have had It has saved my life i beleive

I remember buying a "woman's" magazine and reading this article about weight loss surgery and individuals that struggled with their weight. Each story ended the same, they lost a lot of weight, they are healthy and happy and they all had the same surgeon, Dr. Ernest Cudjoe. I thought, wow!, how exciting for them, maybe I can find me a doctor just like him.... So, I grabbed the phone book, not finishing the article, I was too excited to finish, all I knew was that I wanted to be happy, healthy and skinny. Right then and there I made the decision to seek medical help with my weight problem. I first called my doctor and set up an appointment to explain to her what my plan was.... Then, I searched under Physicians and Surgeons, and to my surprise there his name was Dr. Ernest Cudjoe, Surgeon for Great Lakes Surgical Associates in Alma. I was so happy, I began to cry. I went to a seminar and listened to what Dr. Cudjoe had to say. He spoke so clearly and informative about this procedure, it was much more than him opening you up and reducing the size of your stomach. You have to be willing to change, drastically change! He said that this surgery might not be the answer for everyone. And that he would not perform surgery on those who are not willing to change and help themselves. If you're looking a miracle pill or tranformation over night then this surgery was not for you. He listened to each person as they approached him, and most were asking when they could have the surgery and if he took their insurance. He asked the same question, "why do you want this surgery??", "what has your physician said to you about this surgery??".... He cares, that is the main reason I highly recommend Dr. Ernest Cudjoe. I met with him and he performed my surgery 12/7/04, everything went perfectly smooth. I recovered from surgery in a timely manner and I lost the weight steadily. I have lost a total of 127lbs., I look and feel fabulous. I went to a follow-up visit with Dr. Cudjoe this morning 3/2/06 and he could not believe my transformation, he had tears in his eyes and laughed, he hardly recognized me. I thanked him profusely and told him I would see him in 3 months for another follow-up.

I was extremely nervous about the surgery and took two years to decide to have it. My surgery has gone extremely well. I have not had any complications. However, I do follow my eating plan well and stay away from sugar and high fat. I have lost 185 lbs and my weigh has stabalized. I am now 2 years post op. I received excellent care and do not have any complaints. I would recommend this surgeon and hospital.
