I met with Dr. Rumsey on Monday, October 18, 1999. My first impressions are favorable. He seems to be aware of the many issues surrounding dealing with the obese patient.

The Pacific Bariatric staff seems competent and caring.

I am planning on having the surgery around the 2nd week of December, 1999.

My surgery was performed on 12/9/99.

My pre and post-op impressions of Dr. Rumsey continued to be favorable. He seems very competent. My surgery went off as planned with no complications.

I believe Pacific Bariatric, Dr. Rumsey and Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego are quality providers for bariatric patients.

Very honest upfront, and kind. no my opion has not changed. helpful many of them have had the surgery. I have to go over 100 miles for my appoinments.i would recommend him to anyone. I think people should know that he will be very honest about what you will go thru.. Yes. He told me the things that could go wrong and the things that I was facing if I didn't lose the weight. I would rate him an A. His surgical competance was great and his bedside manner was good to.

Dr. Rumsey seems like a very nice doctor and I have heard he has the fewest amount of patients with complications. The staff is very friendly and many of them used to be overweight and had the surgery. I'll let you know more after my surgery.

My Sergeon was absolutely fantastic, I really like him a lot and would recommend him to any one. Pacific Bariatric is the clinic I went through, out of San Diego.

My surgical group is Pacific Bariatric in San Diego, California. Dr. Rumsey and 3 other surgeons; Dr. Murphy, Dr. Zorn and Dr. Tanaka perform open RNY Divided Gastric Bypass Surgery. My surgeon is Dr. Rumsey and he is truly an "angel". I have met all of doctors and some of my follow up consults have been with Dr. Murphy and Dr. Zorn as well as my own Dr. Rumsey. They are all fantastic, kind, considerate and caring.

I live in the Bay Area so for my surgery I drove to San Diego with my family.

Surgery was done at Mercy Hospital/San Diego and I had no complications and a very short hosptial recovery, 2 nights and 3 days. Mercy has an awesome ward just for bariatic patients with nurses and staff having extensive bariatric experience. My care was outstanding.

I took a flight home so I wouldn't be sitting in the car and uncomfortable for such an extended period of time.

My doctors come here to the Bay Area every other month for patient follow up care. They also have a Bariatric Nurse that has a pager and is very responsive, she has also had RNY surgery.

I found their Pre-op protocol and education materials and guidelines very complete and helpful.

Dr. Rumsey and Pacific Bariatric thoroughly addressed my risks associated with surgery.

My Pre-op and post-op care, concerns and needs have been outstandingly met. Their office and staff seemed to be well organzied and responsive. Many of their staff have had RNY surgery themselves. I feel this brings a special advantage to patients. I believe their program is excellently organized, and very comprehensive.

I feel they have gone that extra mile for me. As a nice bonus, they also have a annual Bariatric Reunion with presentations throughout the day and a fashion show featuring "us" the bariatric patients, followed by a wonderfully catered dinner and dance. Pacific Bariatric truly cares.

I believe they have managed to balance surgical care, education and caring in an amazing way for me.

Pacific Bariatric and Dr. Rumsey have touched and changed my life, I am forever grateful.

It would be nice for me as far as follow up care to have a local bay area physician that is familiar with their program to be the main source of contact for post-op follow up care instead of waiting to see one of them from San Diego every other month.

I liked Dr Rumsey, right away. He is a surgeon with Pacific Bariatric in San Diego. I think he did a wonderful job with my surgery. I recovered quickly and my scars are slight. Pacific Bariatric coordinates the lectures, support groups and makes sure all of their patients are educated to what this surgury is all about. I am (personally) a little dissapointed with Pacific Bariatric, though. They are great for their San Diego patients, but seem to be disorganized concerning their Northern California patients. Probably because they are so busy, and don't have asny offices in Northern California. However, that's not to say that I wouldn't do it all over again if I had the chance.
