Dr Slotman is a really nice and informative surgeon. He was running an hour behind the day I went, but I was expecting that from what I've read on this site. I didn't mind. He went over the surgery and really answered all of my questions. He joked around with me which really put me at ease. His staff was very very nice.
I met with Dr. Slotman and his assistant Karen Orlando on Janurary 18,2001. They were both very friendly and informative. I have all necessary testing completed and my surgery date is tentatively scheduled for March 26, 2001. Everyone from the front desk receptionist to Dr Slotman himself could not have been more accomodating. Dr Slotman did a thorough job of explaining the risks of surgery. I felt his approach was honest and down to earth. I came away that day feeling confident that he was the doctor that I was going to undergo this surgery with.
My consultation with Dr. Slotman is on October 17, 2000. I will update
about him then...
I met with Dr. Slotman as planned and he was great. Extremely informative,
concerned and funny too! He answered all my questions and didn't make me feel dumb.
He explained the procedure in simple terms and made me wait 24hrs. before I was
allowed to make a decision about the surgery. His assistant Karen,
was nice too. A little reserved but friendly. She asked a bunch of questions about my medical history and
my previous weight loss efforts. The office is pretty busy with several other
doctors including plastic surgeons. I felt that the 30 minute wait in the
reception area was kinda much, considering I had an appointment. I was getting
even more antsy/frustrated waitng for Dr. Slotman in the little examining
room by myself for another 30 minutes! Other than that I was quite please
with the office and staff. Will continue to post as I interact further with
Dr. Slotman and his staff...
I met with Dr. Slotman on Aug. 29th. He
is very positive and upbeat. Dr. S. explained
all of the risks of surgery and the bypass
in laymans terms making it easy to
understand.
I have now had an upper GI and a gall-
bladder ultrasound. The reports should
have been faxed to Dr. S' office and I am
waiting to be informed of my health
insurance's authorization.
When I first went to Dr. Slotman I was already determined I was going to have surgery. He answered all questions, gave us all the time we needed, was very detailed in everything he told us. He told me to go home and think about it, he did not allow me to make a decision about the surgery that day. He is a very caring and compassionate person. His staff members are great. Any time I have a question they are more than happy to help.
He is the best, was very attentive while I was in the hospital I seen him every morning even on sunday morning. I rate him excellent as a surgeon and would refer him to anyone.

THE FIRST TIME I MET DR SLOTMAN I KNEW HE WAS THE MAN FOR THE JOB. HE AND HIS STAFF MADE ME FEEL VERY SECURE WITH MY DECISION TO HAVE WLS AND FOR COOPER HOSPITAL THEY WERE GREAT TOO. DR SLOTMAN HAS THE BEST BEDSIDE MANNERS HE MADE ME FEEL VERY COMFORTABLE.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM.
I saw Dr. Gus Slotman on July 11, 2000. This was my first visit. The entire staff was friendly and courteous. Dr. Slotman is a very kind and sweet gentleman. He explained everything to me in plain eglish. He stressed the importance to followup care and do exercise once I have the strength. He let me know all the risk of the surgery. I rate Dr. Slotman overall as excellent. Although I did wait 1 hour in the examining room.
I went to my first visit to my surgeon on June 13, 2000. His name is Dr. Gus Slotman of Cooper Hospital in Camden NJ.
He was nice. He took his time, explained all the risks and was very patient with my questions. My first impression was good .
The office staff were nice.
Today I made my appointment for some pre-tesing that I need. Once those results are back and I get appoval from my insurance, the doctor will set a date.
