My overall experience was good. I did have to call to get my surgery date etc, but that was no biggie. Dr. Meyers is very easy to talk to and he gives you that warm fuzzy feeling. Dr. Wiltse and the office staff were also good to work with. I would recommend him to any one. As always go what your gut instinct and not who is most popular.

When you speak of your experiences with Dr. Meyers, you really have to focus on his whole team as each of them are part of the whole experience. The warmth and empathy each of them extends to you is very much part of the whole experience. The doctor's technical/medical expertise was easily verified through others but you have to personally meet and get to know Dr. Meyers to truly appreciate that he is not your typical "cut and kick you to the curb" surgeon. You don't leave your first meeting with him and his team without understanding exactly what your procedure is and what it entails, graphics included. It also turns out that his team has a tremendous success rate in obtaining the necessary approvals from insurance companies. Besides exhaustive pre-medical testing, one has to go through psychological screening and attend support groups before being scheduled for surgery. One of the support group topics was a presentation by a plastic surgeon who showed pictures of post-op patients after their weight loss with lots of loose skin and she discussed different procedures for each area of concern so I even had an idea of what I would look like. Now, after being 2-months shy of my 2-year anniversary, I weigh 121, wear 4 or 6 petite-sized clothing. I was surprised that I didn't have loose skin around my face or neck but if I could, I would do something about my arms, tummy, and legs. It's not something that is critical to me - it didn't stop me from meeting a wonderful man and getting married recently - so it's all good. Overall? The risks of surgery were 200% worth it. It was my decision to have the surgery after losing my younger sister to congestive heart failure in 11/01 - sort of "scared skinny". But even more poignantly - the decision was confirmed a good one because I lost my younger brother to the same illness this year. Now at 54, I am the only remaining child of my parents whose children died of totally preventable health conditions. Part of my eulogy to my brother was promising to my parents and my own children that I have done above and beyond what I need to ensure I will be, god willing, always here for them.

*1st impression - friendly and smiles alot made me feel comfortable instantly
*Like that saying "1st impression is a lasting impression"
*Office staff extremely friendly-for a minute I thought it was all just an act but after going several times to Dr. Meyers office-I realized that they are ALL wonderful!!!!
*If I disliked him even a very tiny little bit then I would not be using him because Dr. Meyers is dealing with my future and my life
*As everyone knows RNY is a tool and you the person whose having the surgery is the only person who can make it work
*Structured/Organization is another thing that caught my eye about Dr. Meyers office. Those qualities in the environment in Dr. Meyers office made me feel like he knows what he's doing (which is a great and confortable feeling)
*Dr. Meyers mentioned this surgery is like any other surgery it has its risk but (knock on wood) he's been very successful with his patients and thats a very BIG plus.
*From 1 to 10 with 1 being bad - Dr. Meyers 10+
*Surgical competence (excellent) - Bedside manners (don't know yet) but if he's anything like he is during our meetings then he'll be wonderful

Dr. Meyers was very soft spoken and funny, however, he is a fantastic surgeon. I have no complaints. In addition, the staff is very supportive.

I had spoke with several patients which had this surgery with different Surgeons. Then I spoke to several patients in which Dr. Harry Meyers performed their surgury. I was very impressed with how he and his staff deals with the whole process. The other doctors from the other patients didnt have that special something I was looking for. Dr Meyers staff treats the mind, soul and body, with his staff giving time their time to his patients as well "outsite" of the office. I am a week out of surgery and I feel great. Even the the phsycologist in which Dr Meyers patients must see prio to surgury and afterwards, attends the monthly support group meetings. I am so impressed how everything has been thought of for his patients success.

I had a very good first impression of Dr. Meyers. I was very impressed with his credentials and I am very excited to become a BIG LOSER...His office staff is wonderful...I feel like I know Lynn because I've spoken to her quite frequently.

They emphasize after care, and all the risks were explained thoroughly.

I met with Dr. Meyers on January 23rd for my initial consultation. I liked him very much. His office staff is wonderful! They were very helpful and gracious. He was very thorough about risks and perks. I would rate him very highly right now and do not see that changing :o)!

I am now six months post-op and 100 pounds down. I cannot even imagine that there could be a better surgeon out there!! I have been extremely pleased with Dr. Meyers and his entire staff. I recommend them to everyone considering surgery!

Before I met with Dr. Meyers I had met with some other surgeons in the Dallas area that I was not impressed with. Feeling frustrated with the lack of charisma showed by the doctor that actually got me approved for the surgery, I went back to my medical doctor that I was seeing as an alternative to the surgery. I asked him who he recommended and my search was on again for a doctor and a doctor’s office I truly felt comfortable with. It turned out the doctor that I was referred to was a very good doctor but did not do the laparoscopy procedure. I proceeded to ask that office who they recommended for the laparoscopy and they refereed me to Dr. Meyers.

Upon meeting with Dr. Meyers and his staff I felt very comfortable and was sure I was in good hands. Turns out Dr. Meyers has a long history with the scope and has done several scope surgeries. There was some confusion in the beginning with my surgery because I came to them pre-approved and my insurance was not telling the office the same thing they were telling me. Once the confusion over how much was to be paid every thing went smooth.

The office staff and the Doctor stress the importance of after care and making sure you know well ahead of time the risks. They have you go to support groups before the surgery as well as after, you meet with a psychologist, you’ll meet with a nutritionist, you’ll under go an upper GI, and a pre-op review. Overall I think Dr. Meyers and his staff go over and above what I have seen some doctor do to prepare you for the surgery.

I find Dr. Meyers to be a warm and caring gentleman with lots of experience in the field of gastric by-pass surgery and would recommend him highly.
