Dr. Colberg retired only a couple of months after my surgery.

My first impression was good. He was very supportive and not pressuring. My impression only got better. Likewise with his staff. There was nothing about I didn't like. He is 100% with you. he pulleed out all stops to help me. Don't let the initial pain put the focus on him. Recovery is a process, and the process isn't fun! He emphasized life long aftercare. I didn't listen, now I am gaining and had several painful life consequences emotional and otherwise. We need life, or at least, long term support. He provided a detailed book of compiled information of benefits and risks. I in fact have maintained weight loss, despite my regain, greater than the projected initial loss. It has been over 10 years. I rate him 5 out of 5 stars. My early post-op experience was harsh, with several re-admissions. I wish I could have known ahead of time. But in retrospect, I still don't regret the surgery. But I was near suicidal for the first few weeks after, from the pain and other complications.

Dr. Colberg is a top notch surgeon who has performed this surgery for 25 yrs. Unfortunately, he is retiring as of 12-1-01. I liked him a lot, he is very serious and also has a great sense of humor. He didn't sugar coat anything, he told me the facts and let me make my decision. Great aftercare, he seems to really take an interest in his patients' health and recovery.

Have a new surgeon now. Dr. Colberg is retired and my revision is being done by Dr. Joseph Curci out of Doylestown Hospital. So far I feel great confidence from him.

Dr.Curci and Dr. Ford out of Doylestown Hospital performed my revision and other surgical repairs. They were great. My new incision looks wonderful, better than the first. I was extremely happy with these doctors.

My 1st impression of Dr. Colberg (now retired-Nov '01), was great! He had been performing Gastric Bypass for like 15yrs. He was sympathetic to my situation, which helped a lot!
My impression satyed the same, he moved me right along the steps to becoming a new me!
The office staff was very friendly! They always answered questions if they could!
There was nothing I liked least about Dr. Colberg!
He's not practicing now & to be honest since I don't go to his office now, I don't know who's taking his place.
He stressed aftercare, very seriously. He ws on top of things! He was always available when I called him! When I thought I wasn't losing enough, he was very encouraging!
He gave me information about the risks of the surgery. I thought they were excellent & knew a young lady who had the surgery prior to me getting it. I knew I wanted him to do it & haven't had any regrets!
He was a perfect 10!!!!!!!!!!!
Both surgical competence & beside manner are extremely important! I had that & more w/Dr. Colberg!

Dr Colberg is FABULOUS!!! I would highly recommend him to ANYONE! He's very caring and answers all of the questions you can throw his way. If you live in the Philadelphia area and are considering this type of surgery you can't do any better than Dr. Colberg at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Sorry to report Dr. Colberg has retired.

Dr. Colberg is a very nice man. I feel i will be in good hands when my surgery is done. Today 3/13/00 My consulataion,We talked for over an hour together. He really wants to make sure you understand everything about the wls. He makes you take alot of pre-op tests, but he only is making sure you are in the best shape, health wise for wls. Pat is office manager is very nice and she knows just what she needs to get done. I do not feel that i was with a doctor and i was his patient.(Dr Colberg has retired Nov 20th 2001

When I first met him I thought to myself "He looks to old to be doing this surgery". But by my second visit I was sure his age was the WISDOM and EXPERIENCE I was looking for in a surgeon.
His staff was very nice and helpful. I didn't find anything that I didn't like about him or his staff. Dr. Colberg described the detail to me in detail from start to finish. He drew diagrams and really did a great job making me understand the outcomes and risks of this surgery.
I would recommend everyone to Dr. Colberg for this surgery. Unfortunately, he's retiring this month. However, I give him 10 out of 10 stars.

My first impression of Dr. Colberg was one of great confidence.
My opinion of him never changed, he is an excellent surgeon.
One staff member who runs the whole show and is excellent.
Wasn't really anything I didn't like about him.
Future patients should know he comes off very serious because he is.
Aftercare is emphasized but I've noticed not as dilligently as some others I've heard about.
Aftercare consists of 4wk visit to have staples removed, 6 wk visit to talk about solid food, 12 week, 6 mos and 1 yr.
Dr. Colberg addressed all the risks of surgery and had statistical information to provide also.
I rate Dr. Colberg as a top notch surgeon.
Both is good but if I had to choose only one I'd go for surgical competence because my life depended on it.
