He is a very caring individual who is also very professional and can talk freely at a level that can be understood. He explained very carefully the risks involved and asked if I had questions that he could answer for me. We spent close to an hour during the exam time and that made me comfortable. I didnt feel rushed by taking up too much of his time. I feel his bedside manner and his competency as a surgeon are both outstanding!

I really liked Dr. Lenz from the get go. He seemed very caring and honest. He did a great job with my surgery and I owe him my life! The office staff there is another story. The bariatric nurse whom I never even met until I was 6 mts out would be sick at EVERY apt I had sked w/her. This happened like 5 different times! I think they've moved her out of that dept now so hopefully others will not have the same problem. The aftercare program there could be better. They have support group meeting once a mth but they aren't that structured and I don't go much anymore cuz I don't feel I get much out of them anymore. They did help answer a lot of questions that I had pre - op though. Dr. Lenz explained the surgery very well to me and went over all the risks with me. He has a great bedside manner and I would recommend him to all!

My internal medicine Dr. recommended Dr.Lenz. He is a wonderful Dr. gentle caring and very informative. My 8 year old daughter was having concerns about my surgery. I took her with and he got down to her level and showed her what he was going to do and asked her if she had any other questions.I waited a little longer for his transcripts I was told it could take upto 3 weeks mine took7 because of end of summer vacation but he is worth the wait.I think hes the best! His surgical knowledge and bedside manner are tops.... His phsycian assistant Tony Valentine is a real sweetheart too..

Dr. Lenz is both a great surgeon and a great person. He truely cares about the person. He is a very articulate surgeon and has excellent bedside manner. His office staff has been extremely supportive. He has called me in the evenings from his home just to see how I am feeling. I think he is a great guy. I trust him with my life and would recommend him to anyone.

I met with Dr. Lenz on 3/30/04. My husband came with to the appointment. My first impression of Dr. Lenz is that I could really trust him and that he would make sure I was taken care of before, after, and during the process. I don't get to see him again until the surgery day but he told me to make sure I called with any concerns. Dr. Krook will be in the operating room with him and that is a nice feeling that there will be two skilled surgeons there taking excellant care of me.

Dr. Lenz seems to be more reserved than Dr. Krook but I think it's because he wants to makes sure that he gives you all the facts and is in a "No nonsence mood". This isn't a joking matter and is very serious and I get that from him. I respect that approach. I am normally a person who likes to joke and bond with people in fun tone but meeting him is serious and I could tell he takes this surgery very seriously. He is conservative as is the program at SMDC. It may seem like a lot of hoops to jump through but you have to show that this will be a life changing thing for you. You don't just jump back to bad habits and regain all the weight you worked SO HARD to loose! I'm glad he is so serious.

The staff at SMDC have been so wonderful to work with. I've worked with other staff members for other things and haven't had very good service. They are very kind and want to make sure they explain every detail. Roxanne my dietician is a gas! I just love her! Patty the General Surgery Nurse has had the surgery about 2 years ago outside of MN. She is a wealth of knowledge and is at all the support group meetings. This is truely a passion for her and she takes a personal interest in you and assures that you will succeed. She is truely a jem.

I received the information about what to expect afterwards. Patty the General Surgery Nurse wanted to make sure I knew what to expect after surgery...both in the hospital and at home.

I have researched the risks involved with the surgery but Dr. Lenz made sure to cover all areas.

I believ both surgical competence and bedside manner are very important and I have good feelings about both.
