    Dr. John Mason, Jr. is a board certified surgeon through the American Board of Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons. Dr. Mason, Jr. completed his B.S. in Biology with a strong minor in Engineering Studies from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1981. He then completed medical school at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas in 1986. Dr. Mason, Jr. completed an internship and residency in general surgery at the USAF Medical Center Keesler in Biloxi, Mississippi. He was named one of Texas Monthly's Super Doctors for 2004, 2005, and 2014.

    Dr. Mason inspires confidence. His reputation is flawless and I am so glad I was referred to him. I had the sleeve (VGS) so I was very nervous but I just knew the sleeve was the right operation for me.
