Exellent first impression, only strengthened over time. Very professional and organized office staff. Dr. Printen is accessible and friendly and speaks in easy to understand manner. Provides a great set of expectations for the surgery and post-op. Provides closely monitored post-op care and follow-up. Describes surgery risks and answered all of my questions. Had recommendations for addressing all om post-op questions and issues. Limits practice to "full incision" surgeries (does not perform laroscopic procedures). Overall rating for Dr. Printen would be excellent. Excellent bedside manner and surgical competence.

Dr. Printen is a wonderful man! He is very understanding and listens very well to my questions and concerns. He has done many of these surgeries and all that I know of have been a success. I feel that I am in the best hands for this surgery and everything will go GREAT!! Overall, I am very pleased and couldn't ask for a better doctor! Dr. Printen has a great bedside manner, and a good aftercare program. He is always available to answer my questions.

I Love Him!!!!

I felt very safe and comfortable and informed.

My impression of him has only gotten better.

His office staff,,,esp. PJ, is very supportive and courteous.

Nothing.

He has pioneered this procedure and has been doing this for a long time. I feel very well taken care of.

Very much.

Yes.

Honestly and Compassionately.

I would rate hime 100%

Both a bedside manner and surgical competence go hand in hand. It must be excellent.

Dr. Printen is a great Dr and highly qualified from what I heard. I do not regret choosing him to be my surgeon. I wasn't so happy with the office staff - but they grow on you. I believe they are just overworked because of the growing popularity of this surgery. I have no problem with anyone at the office and they have been incredibly helpful once the nightmare of getting the insurance approval was completed.

The hospital staff was totally awesome. I've never had such a positive experience in a hospital before. I went to Evanston even though others were closer because Dr. Printen practiced there. No regrets - other than Illinois highways could be maintained better!!! Ouch, what a bouncy ride home!

There is a great deal of aftercare and Dr is always available for emergencies - I just recently found that out. He was really helpful and I feel much better now that I got through that. There are a number of support groups available for free or small fee that his office will put you in contact with as well.

If you choose Dr. Printen - you'll be in excellent hands. I've met a number of his other patients - even those who have had complications after surgery have nothing but good things to say about him.

Dr. Printen was a delight to chat with, my impression did not change at all it just became more favorable. I will say I rarely actually got in at my scheduled time. He is extremely busy.

Printen and His staff were great, they provided numerous resources and were so friendly.

I'll let you know more as we get to the date

Very impressed with Dr Printen, found him to be very helpful and understanding. Office staff aways helpful, was quit surprise to see how fast the insurance approved the procedure. After care is a key to the reason I choose Dr Printen.
Encorages you to attend support group and always stating the sooner you start walking the better you are. Start you execise route before surgery and continue after. Walking a bit each day. Dr had address the risks of surgery but I told him that I have reviewed this over the last two years and everyone has to compare the benifts for surgery. After Surgery I know I'm required to see him once a week for a month after that I beleive it is once a month and that the fee he charges cover 6 months follow up visits. Dr Printen has been doing this procedure for a long time and I think he will have great bed side manner just by the way he was on the office visits.
Would like to add more after surgery on this subject.

My first impression of Dr. Printen was neutral to positive. He seemed encouraging but these operations are just another day's work to him I would think. I had checked him out on the net and elsewhere before I met him the first time and was favorably impressed.

I wasn't really changed by the second visit. My impression remained positive. I also thought his bedside manner at the hospital was absolutely wonderful. He answered questions and was very reassuring. I just didn't see much of him at all.

His office staff is great... just be sure not to bug them about anything!!! They will supply what you need when you need it and will work things out with the insurance folks. A lot of their literature and communications, however, remind you constantly, "Don't call us, we'll call you." I'm assuming that's because too many people call and take up a lot of clerical time checking on things.

Aside from that, Dr. Printen has an assistant... or I guess she works directly for ENH, named Karen Thomas. She runs the monthly support groups plus works with you in the hospital. She is an incredible plus to his practice and has unending patience. The only problem I found with her is I felt she was pushing for me to go home from the hospital too quickly. I was glad that Dr. Printen took a more conservative route and kept me in then had me get a blood transfusion.

Aftercare is much emphasized, especially in terms of keeping up the support group attendance (which I am most definately going to do -- Karen is essential!)

I don't remember how Dr. Printen addressed the risks of surgery. He did it in our first consultation, but I already knew a lot because I had read up a lot over a couple of years.

I would rate Dr. Printen as excellent overall. I believe that surgical competence is more important than bedside manner, but I would like both and feel as if I received top-notch care in both.

Finally, the most significant problem I have had with this whole thing (apart from the plain physical discomfort) has been the fact that instructions and information I got from the "experts" often seemed to conflict... The nurses sometimes telling me to take it more easy, others trying to get me up and walking quickly, Karen trying to get me released, Dr. Printen telling me to relax.... Dr. Printen telling me the most important thing to do when I get home was to start the vitamins, Karen saying to wait a few days. I mean the little inconsistancies began to drive me crazy, but now I'm realizing that people are very much in the dark about what is consistently good and I guess you really have to figure a lot out for yourself.

It's been 1 year and 5 months since I had surgery. In Sept. I had hernia surgery. My experiences with Dr. Printon and his staff have been wonderful. I have nothing but the highest respect for them and would recommend anyone that has a weight problem go to him. You are in good hands with Dr. Printon.
