My impression of Dr.Robinson was that he was a very nice man and knew what he was doing. He also offered serveral times during our short consultation if I had any questions. All of the risks are reviewed again during your consulation and you are given information to take home as well. Honestley I had most of my answers after attending the surgery education seminar prior to the consult. Not to mention my own research I have done online over the past few years.

Dr.Robinsons' staff has been great! Even though they are a very busy office they give each patient their individual attention and care. Jennifer, who sets up all the appointments has been great. She is a sweetheart. His whole office empasizes that this surgery is a tool for losing weight, it will not do it all on its own. It involves a lot of effort on your part as well. A lifestyle change. But they have such a great aftercare program I know that I will do well with all of their help.

I dont really know how I would rate him just yet. I have onhly met him for a short amount of time. So far he is professional and straight to the point. He tells you what he would like you to do in preparation for this surgery. For instance, he has asked me to lose 30-35lbs and quit smoking. I have started my new healthy lifstyle of eating healthier and getting some exercise. I still have had a few bad days here and there but you just have to keep going and start a new day. As for quitting smoking. I have been a smoker for almost half of my life. I want to quit. Not only will it help my recovery but if I am looking to have a healthier lifestyle, then i would say quitting smoking would have to go along with it. Not to mention how much money I will save. This will be my first time ever trying to quit smoking. I have 4 packs left of my carton and then I am done.

Update:
Needless to say, I had a very difficult time trying to accomplish losing weight and quitting smoking at the same time. Once I saw Dr.Robinson again on 3/21/05 I had only cut my smoking in half ( 15 cigs a day to 7-8 cigs a day) and had only lost 6lbs. Dr.Robinson told me he would not do my surgery unless I quit smoking and lost more weight. He said that there was no way he could take chances with my breathing for this surgery. I left the office crying but knew where he was coming from and my origional surgery date of 4/21/05 was canceled. He said he would see me in 3 weeks to see if i had lost anymore weight and quit smoking and would not give me another date until then. He receommended that I try the patch to quit smoking. I Thank him so much now i am an Ex-smoker and do not plan on ever going back to it.

April 12, 2005 appt went great i had lost an addtional 11lbs to make a total of 17lbs and quit smoking the day after i last saw him, 3/22/05. Dr. Robinson was pleased with me and said the he will now do this surgery for me and i can be put back on the schedule.

April 14, 2005: I spoke w\ Dr.Robinsons scheduling coordinator, Jennifer for another date. I am now scheduled for Thursday April 28, 2005. Only one week away from my origional date, not too bad.

April 18, 2005: I went for my pre-op testing today and had my last appt pre-op with Dr.Robinson. I somehow gained almost 3 lbs in 6 days. I am sure that it is PMS. I have not messed up on my diet at all. But its just my luck!

After interviewing five surgeons I knew that Dr. Malcolm Robinson would be my first and only choice. He was extremely proffessional, skilled and overall had a good bedside manner. His staff was always pleasant from his assitants to his wonderful secretary Jennifer. He was always pleasant and I felt that I could ask him anything without feeling stupid. He is great at what he does and this coupled with his wonderful"people skills" is not only rare in a surgeon but great...I would recomend him to anyone. He is a wonderful person and a terrific surgeon He is knowledgeable and is an expert in this field. I have had follow up surgeries and both times he was right there by my side to check on me even though the second hernia surgery he didn't perform. On a scale of 1-10 he truly is a 20 in all aspects of this procedure....

Dr Robinson seemed very professional and made it seem like the surgery wouldn't be a problem for him. I am confident that he will do a great job. From the first time I call his office the staff was very nice and willing to help with any information they could offer. Gina his PA was wonderful in explaining what was going to happen and answered any questions I had. They are very big on following through with your aftercare. It is important to listen to dieticians and nutrionist, basically they are teaching you how to eat all over again. Gina did explain the risks and complications that could arise from this surgery and explained the percentages of patients this happens to. I think if you could combine the surgical competence and bedside manner you would have a very sought after surgeon. It did seem to happen very quickly but that is a very busy office. These are my opinions of my consultation.

He seemed very kind and caring very warm not at all like I thought he would be. I had been to the information session and had all my questions typed out and ready. I had one sheet and my sister had another copy I asked my questions and she wrote the answers down so he got my full attention as he answered me. The office staff could not have been better. Everyone as busy as they are never seemed to rush you along. I think that he is a very strict Dr. and wants you to do as he ask so he can do his job. Told me all the risk and made sure I had all the infomation I needed. I like the fact that you will be followed by him for the next 5 years at least. I want into hime with some douts but he put them all to reast I am overall very happy with him and his staff. Only thing I wish they had sent me all the papper work in the mail to fill out before I got their that morning.

I can't think of enough good things to say about Dr. Robinson. He's not a person given to a dramatic sense of humor, but he's a very competent, skilled, and sensitive surgeon. My entire experience was as pleasant as can be expected. Expect to receive most of your pre and post-op information from his physician assistant plus the arsenal of professionals at Brigham and women's. He's strictly the surgeon, folks. If you need your hand held, call your Mom. I preferred to have a clear-headed, serious surgeon and I found one in Dr. R. I'm now a bit over 1 year post-op and with Dr. R's help, I'm now at "normal" weight.

Dr. Robinson is very professional, not overly talkative but pleasant when speaking with me. The office staff is great. Jennifer who books the appointments over the phone is the nicest person. All the PA's I met were great. Very freindly and informative made me feel very comfortable asking them anything. The entire process was very organized.

He is very to the point kind of man. He knows his job and I am very confident is his knowledge and his abilities. If you are looking for coddling and hand holding, Dr. Robinson is not the surgeon for you. And that is the type of surgeon I want. But he could be a little bit softer around the edges but he is very competent surgeon. And as for the office staff and the P.A.'s they are just incredible. Very helpful, quick with getting things moved along, and will answer all your questions. I am still pre-op but so far I rate them (Dr. Robinson and his entire staff) a 12 between 1-10 (with 10 being the highest)

I was really nice. I was afraid, because I had read the he was extremely serious and never smiled. He was serios, but very nice. Made me feel comfortable. and even smiled! His staff could not have been nicer.

My first impression of Dr.Robinson was that he's very serious and straight forward, almost intimidating.
As I got to know Dr.Robinson I realized that he is very serious about detail, he leave nothing to chance, all bases are covered, which to me tells me that he is a master at his craft.
His office staff is very professional, always willing to answere any and all questions no matter how silly you may think it is, and they go out of their way to make you feel at ease.
The least thing that I did not care for about Dr. Robinson was that he does not smile very much, or laugh, or make silly little jokes to make you feel better. Future patience of Dr. Robinson should know that he is very serious and he wants what he wants no exceptions. His emphasis on aftercare is very much stress as part of the program. Yes, he has a structured aftercare program. Hes addressed the risk as fact and figures. I woudl rate Dr. Robinson as A+++. I think the best thing for Dr. Robinson is his surgical competence, his bedside manner could use some serious work.
