My first impression of Dr. Fendley was very positive and I felt so comfortable with his care and concern for my well-being. Over a period of time I was even more confident in Dr. Fendley and his staff. I don't know if I am pronouncing this correctly but Chandiss I believe was the nurses name was far above and beyond her call of duty. After care was explained but I don't think any one is ever truly informed about this procedure unless they talk to members here on the board and learn what to expect. I rate Dr. Fendley in the top 10. I believe surgical compliance and bed side manner are both important.

Straightforward, down to earth, no nonsense kind of guy. Did en excellent job. Sorry to hear he is no longer performing surgeries. I don't lavish praise on MD's easily or often, but he's the best. Couldn't have asked for a more competent, compassionate surgeon. rnrnOnly concern was not able to contact him or another MD on the weekend when I developed a rash to latex and needed a script for Atarax as I'm allergic to Benadryl, and hydrocortizone didn't work. Had to suffer with hives til Monday when he was back at work. Also scary rash developed on legs that oncall nurse could not evaluate. Turned out to be scary, but not hurtful

my 1st impression was that he is a very compassionate man. he is not stoic or reserved, he is very personable, approachable. he made sure i understood all the aspects of the surgery & answered any & all questions me or my husband had. i feel very confident in my choice of surgeons!
eric was very informative & very down to earth. he encourages you to ask questions & answers everthing with knowledge & confidence. i was very impressed with eric. amy was also very helpful. she is a very pleasant young lady. she made sure all additional appointments were made befroe i left & that i had them all written down. she called to confirm 1 appt. after there was aquestion about it. she went above & beyond to make this a smooth process!!!
at this point, there is nothing that i do not like about dr. fendley & his staff!
future patients should know that they need to do their own research about surgeons, not just listen to what everone else says. they should know that dr. fendley cares about his patients, i did not just see $ signs in his eyes!
dr. fendley made sure i realized this is not a quick fix, the surgery is only as good as my commitment to changing my lifestyle!
he & eric both addressed the risks of surgery. nothing was downplayed, they both made sure that my husband & i understood the seriousness of the surgery.
i rate dr. fendley & his staff highly. i have had numerous surgeries & have had good & bad surgeons. i felt an instant connection with these people. i felt the really cared. i rate them 100%! i realize 100% is suspect but at this time, i truly have no complaints or reservations!
i feel bedside manner & surgical competence are equal. this is an emotional journey as well as physical. bedside manner will play a major role in the journey, as well as competence!

Dr. Steven Fendley is one of the most cordiall doctors I have ever met. My impression was that he was very knoweledgeable about the surgery and was most eager in helping in anyway. His staff were even more amazing. Escpecially his nurse Chalice she had always returned my phone calls very promptly and she is still continuing to try and get me approved. Dr. Fendley is extremely emphatic that after care is an utmost importance. Dr. Fendley never once downplayed the surgery risks but reminded me that all surgery is dangerous. I rate him and his staff an overall (A) for their efforts. I think surgical competence and beside manner are both necessary however you dont often find that anymore. Let me add that Dr. Fendley's nurse has been replaced by Aimee and I really like her disposition.

Dr. Fendley was very informative at our first meeting. He explained everything that could go wrong. His office staff were very polite to me and my parents. I think he is a very good doctor, so I have recommended him to others. He gives you plenty of information about what to expect after surgery. I have other medical problems, so he took extra care in the OR to insure that if anything went wrong he was prepared. On a scale of one to ten, I would rate him as a nine. The only problem I had while in the hospital was caused by a nurse not following the doctor's order and noone taking my surgical stockings off when they should have.

He was very helpful in all my needs.
It's was not hard because I stayed on a diet all the time. They all were very nice there, so there is nothing that I did not like about every one. Don't worry about things because they will help you in every way and you can call anytime they will answer any think you need to ask them. They called me at home three time to check up on me which was very nice of them of them but I was doing very will I did not take any pain medication at home. They told me that there was a group at medical center in Dothan Al. But I was ready for it all and When I started losing it was the happiest day's of my life. Dr. Fendley was talking to me about the risks but I told him that if it hurt me It would me my time but, 254 was hurting me more. I rate Dr.Fendley number ONE in my book. Both of them are great.

My referral from my PCP was to see Dr. Fendley who I think is a wonderful man as he did my gallbladder surgery several years ago. But as it turned out I had to see his new partner Dr. Beaver. I was concerned about this as I was already comfortable with Dr.Fendley but he was booked up they said. So I made the appt. to see Dr.Beaver July 23rd but I was nervous. We saw Dr. Beaver and he has very nice and answered all our questions, explained all the risks, and made sure we knew this was no little minor type surgery it is the real deal and how it would effect everything that happens in the future. They gave us a booklet to read and a videotape to watch about WLS. I was impressed with him. I did ask him that when they do the surgery if possible could Dr. Fendley assist him as they use two docs in every case. He said he would see what he could do. They have a very good aftercare program and are very concerned about your progress in this life changing surgery. You see their dietician and PT folks and they even have their own psych doc to do your eval. It takes a little bit to get to see all of them but in the long run the end result will be a good one I Hope. I am hoping for a quick approval from the insurance folks. Thanks to all the staff at Dr. Beaver's office!

I have been very pleased with Dr. Fendley. He and his staff have been very informative and helpful. Every question I have asked has been answered and I feel he has been very good about laying out the risks of the surgery. All my phone calls so far have been returned.
