Dr Duperier performed my RNY Gastric Bypass surgery on 03/16/2011 and would not hesitate to recommend him, so much to the point that my wife underwent the same surgery just last week (08/17/2011), which was also performed by Dr Duperier.

He is very direct, but friendly too and some people might not like the fact he's not all warm and fuzzy, but what do you want.... a warm fuzzy feeling or a damn good surgeon to whom you can entrust your life?

Dr. Duperier has gone above and beyond since the very beginning..!!! He is a very personable, honest and sincerly compassionate surgeon along with everyone else at Bmi of texas. I had my surgery on 3/15/10 and I cannot say enough about Dr. D. I have lost 114lbs and he was definately my miracle.

I've been working with him for several years as I've drug my feet about getting surgery. I love that he tells it like it is and is honest about every aspect of the surgery.

Finding words to describe Dr. Duperier are not easy for me. Our first meeting was at a Saturday seminar and he was energetic and positive. I found the presentation utterly fascinating! I had a few questions and he stayed to patiently answer them. The next meeting was at his office and surprisingly, it was only a few days after the seminar. He asked me what surgery I was interested in a conducted a detailed interview. He left no stone unturned. The summary of our conversation was that I would be a great candidate for surgery and he explained the next steps I would need to take. His office staff is friendly and fast, they are respectful of my time. I was convinced that Dr. Duperier was "rooting for me" and that he could be the one and only surgeon that was to change my life! I was on my way! I did everything he said and I put my trust completely in his talented hands.
My life was going to be so good and then It came time to schedule the surgery. I had done countless tests and 6 months of a diet, only to put the surgery "off." I had 4 deaths in my family that followed and I was not in a "good place." I went to therapy to find out what was going on inside and then came back. It had been 2 years!
I was worried that I had to start over! I was relived when Dr. Duperier said, "No, but you have gained 6 pounds since our last visit." His name is Frank and he is that! I understood and began again.
My surgery took place in July of 2009. I wanted to sleep late and he had me scheduled for the afternoon. I appreciate his courtesy. I was so happy to see him on the day of my surgery and he was ready to start, so was I.
He asked me If I wanted to spend the night in the hospital to recover and I declined the offer as I have a Tempurpedic bed at home. He did a fantastic job on my incisions! They have healed beautifully. I have had only phenomenal success from his talented, gifted work. He has a kind nature and he is a man of character and the highest of ethics. If ever I have needed anything, he and his staff have catered to me. I honestly believe that I am a dynamic woman and I am ever so grateful to have met him.
If you are in need of a second chance he is your man. I am now a "phoenix arising from the ashes" to take flight in this world. I now soar high above with eagles because of Dr. Terive Duperier.........

I can start with WOW!!!! What a personable surgeon both him & his partner Dr. Seger who impressed my mother in law which lead me to his practice. "BMI of Texas" I had jumped through the hoops of 6 months of a monitored diet, stress test, ultrasound of heart, ultrasound of abdomen (liver, gallbaldder & everything else) sleep study, pap smear, mamogram, and had a date for surgery when my insurance requested I have surgery at a different hospital. I went to my pre-op appointment and was devistated as she voiced her opinion about me having surgery at this other hospital. It was not professional & she should've kept her comments to herself. I was lectured about turning in my cpap machine when I tried for 3 months & couldn't sleep with it at all. I have a 6 year old which requires sleep in order to get him off to school in the morning, then I also got a lecture about gaining 8 lbs when she asked me to lose 5 lbs. If she would've read my dieticians notes she would've seen that I lost 6 lbs through September and gained some back from quitting smoking. There is my nightmare story. I called & canceled my surgery with my first surgeon & called BMI of Texas, talked briefly with a patient care advocate to find out if I had insurance approval was is possible just to change surgeons? I was called back by the patient care advocate within an hour to say "YES" and schedule an appointment. Dr. Duperier was day and night of the previous surgeon I had picked and said he would be honored to do my surgery & had no problems with going to the hospital that my insurance company wanted me to go to. I was put on a protein diet for 10 days & my surgery was scheduled. He explained everything about the RNY gastric bypass in much detail and I actually watched a video of the surgery itself on their webpage. I can't say enough about all of the staff working there....you're a real live person and not just a number. Everyone is so friendly and several have had a type of surgery by either Dr. D or Dr. Seger that when they give you advice about protein, vitamins, and supplements, they have actually walked the walked. They have a dietician in the office that is very knowledgable and pleasant to work with. Then to top it off, they are affilated with a fitness center that charges a whole $15.99 per month to work out Monday-Friday. I can't tell you how happy I was to fall in the hands of BMI of Texas, they all are a truly bunch of wonderful caring people that want nothing more than to see you suceed. If I had to rate them, it would definately be a 15 on a scale of 1-10 :-)

Dr D has been wonderful to work with over the past 18 months! He and his staff have been nothing but helpful, professional and supportive!

I have talked with many othersthat are WLS post-op from other surgeons and am amazed at the difference in levels of care out there. I have not heard of any that have had better or more comprehensive service.. but I have heard of many that have had less.

If someone were to say they were getting the surgery - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to Dr D and the staff at BMI!

I had a gastric bypass in February 2009.rnI've lost 75 pounds since then and feel great.rnBut this is only part of the story...rnThe primary reason for my gastric bypass was not weight loss. I've suffered from stomach-related health problems for almost 20 years, and was finally diagnosed with GASTROPARESIS in March of 2007. After exhausting other treatments without much success, I heard about a surgeon in Texas who was using gastric bypass to treat the disorder. I contacted Dr. Duperier's office, and for the first time I had people who actually wanted to help me...and soon! A very short time later I found myself traveling from Idaho to San Antonio, Texas, where Dr. Duperier and his staff gave me the V.I.P. treatment. In addition to the gastric bypass, I had a gastrectomy (removal of the stomach), and now I no longer have gastroparesis! I feel better than I have in 20 years, and owe it all to Dr. Duperier's willingness to help me. Yes, it was a radical surgery, and a bit of an experimental gamble, but if it weren't for doctors like this I wouldn't be living my life again. And the weight loss is definitely an added bonus!rnThank you, Dr. Duperier!

Dr Duperier was very caring and sensitive. He made me feel comfortable and safe. I really beleive your success starts with your surgeon. I knew 4 people personally that had used him and they all had no complications and great success. I had gastric bypass on a Tuesday and went home Thursday and back to work on Monday. If you have insurance and an employer you can take the time off but I own a Real Estate Firm and did not feel I could take the time off and feel good about it.rnDr. Duperier explained everything about the surgery, risks, what to expect, etc. I have lost over a 100 pounds in 9 months. Most of it in the first 6 months. If I had to have any surgery that involved his expertise he would be the only surgeon I would ever use.rnHe is amazing!

Dr Duperier was assigned my care after his partner, Dr Paul Selinkoff, my original surgeon, retired. Having developed questionable issues prior to meeting Dr Duperier, including regaining weight at a consistent clip, I am grateful for his identification of Hyperparathyroidism. My WLS, open RNY 10/18/1999, is a decision I do not regret.rnrnAs a patient I pushed for additional details when the meager conversations with Dr Duperier took place. Without a doubt I wore him out; whining with insecurities and gloomy depression. During the few years as doctor and patient, miscommunication and misinterpretation eroded an unsecured foundation. It is surely a concern for surgeons to crave respect. Though my respect for Dr Duperier and his partners has oft been stated, I doubt they believe and/or accept me. (A life long history confirms my humaness.)rnrn= - * = - * = - * = - * = - * = - * - =rnrnThe following is my tribute to an extraordinary surgeon, Dr Paul Selinkoff. It was originally posted on ObesityHelp.com under Dr Selinkoff's profile: Dr Selinkoff is definitely one of a kind. He is very direct, honest appears to be abrupt, but his passion and compassion for his patients soon becomes obvious. I appreciate his candor, stating exactly what the best plan is for you (his patient). Not always gentle in his delivery, he is an absolutely fabulous surgeon and wonderful man. I found him to be different post-surgery than during the consultation. His demeanor transitioned to one similar to a dad caring for his kids.rnrnDr Selinkoff retired from bariatric surgery all too soon for me. Confident in future care with the other terrific surgeons in the practice, I will always have a special place in my heart for Dr Paul Selinkoff...a man who changed my life for the better! Thank God for physicians who are called into the work of bariatric surgery. God bless each one.
