I couldn't be more pleased with Dr. Prewitt. I am glad I saw him for a second opinion, his advice was the right advice. The best part was his incredible bedside manner.

December, 2008:rnI'm now 4 years post-op. Since that surgery, Dr. Prewitt has removed my gallbladder (6/07) and found an ulcer during an EGD. My opinion of him has not changed one bit. If he said that I needed to have any sort of surgery, I would trust him totally. I'm currently contemplating revision to an extended RNY, but first I'm working on some other issues (fibromyalgia, arthritic joints) which are interfering with my daily life. Dr. Prewitt is also very involved in post-op monitoring. I'm due to go in to have lab work done, as I do every 6 months, to make sure my supplementation program is where it should be.rn---------------------------------------------rnThis update from January, 2005:rnFirst impression: Quiet, concerned, knowledgablernrnImpression has remained the same. I knew of his reputation as a wonderful physician from coworkers who worked with him at the hospital where I work. They said that he was a good doctor, good to work with and took very good care of his patients. My brother is a physician at another hospital. He checked with his bariatric surgeon colleagues at his hospital and they said that Dr. Prewitt was a good surgeon.rnrnHis office assistant is (Ellen) is also wonderful. I've spent a lot of time on the phone with her through the year of work it took to get my approval.rnrnThe aftercare program is good, to my mind. I've seen him twice since surgery and have another appointment upcoming in a couple of weeks. There is a monthly support group meeting at the hospital. Last month Dr. Prewitt brought in all the instruments and equipment used during the surgry so that we could get a better idea of exactly what had occurred during surgery. We also saw a video of a RNY surgery (a teaching file from someplace else). There are followup meetings with the dietitian (although less often than other programs I've heard of). There is a post-op PT program set up for each individual, which is great because the physician therapist assessed where my greatest needs were and also helped me avoid exercising in ways that would aggravate my existing physical problems.rnrnI researched the surgery and its risks for several years before I actually saw the doctor for the first time. Since I'd done all that, I knew the risks upfront and he did talk about them, but I was already well informed about them.rnrnI feel truly blessed that I had Dr. Prewitt as my surgeon. I had very few problems post-operatively. And I have gorgeous scars from my laparoscopic procedure--very neat stitchery.rnrnHe's a bit quiet bedside (or maybe it is just me that is quiet and he was responding to me). I don't know much about him personally, but that mght come as time goes on.

My confidence and comfort level with Dr. Prewitt is incredible. He really took time with me on my first consult. Very easy to understand his recommendations and the process of WLS. Also, a big emphasis on the aftercare that is part of his program. He explained the changes my body would go thru, and the commitment that I will have to make in order to get the realistic results that he suggests and I WANT. Dr. Prewitt and his staff were very professional and yet approachable. I didn't feel ashamed or a failure with my morbid obesity. I now have reassurance that Dr. Prewitt and his team can provide me the tools to be healthy and in control of my weight!

The office staff is great, no problem getting return phone calls, or promblems with filing paper work. There was nothing I didn't like about Dr. Prewitt he is great a very caring doctor and he has great bedside mannor. After care is stressed, and they have a great program put together with nutritionist to keep you on track. On a scale of 1-10 I would give Dr. Prewitt a 20, I was very impressed with how well he answered all of my questions and his bedside mannor. He really makes you feel like he wants you to succeed.

I've know of Dr. Prewitt for years. I used to work at the hospital he practices out of. He is very concerned for his patients. From an RN perspective, he is great. He returns his pages and always addresses concerns that the RNs have. He is big on education for his patients as well as his support staff.

My first impression - compassionaternMy impression never changed, he was so caring & didn't look at me as a \"FAT\" person.rnHe and his nurse were just awesome. Whenever I called they acted as though there was no one more important to them at the time.rnrnYou know,he discussed everything with me but FIRST had me tell him what I knew about the RNY & then he went into more detail.rnrnRate him \"AAA\" +, I think he had everything that we all look for in any doctor. You're a person & not a number - he took all the time with you in his office or after surgery (I know he was very busy) he sat with my whole family and answered all of their questions and never once did he look at his watch!!! rnrnAnyone in this area, he is the man to see!!rnrnThere is no negativity: All paperwork done, all tests performed, he explained over and over the risks, Just could never ask for more. Sorry - no negativity.

I absolutely love Dr Prewitt. He's a great doctor, and if I had to do this all over again I'd pick him. My first impression of him was he was quiet, but always interested in what I had to ask or say, everytime I see him I like him more and more.
There is nothing I don't like about him, he is 100% professional, but also 100% sincere, and caring.
Aftercare is very important to him - his nurse, Ellen is also very involved in what goes on, before, during and after the surgery.

If you are in the Milwaukee area and are thinking about this, PLEASE GO TALK TO DR PREWITT, he's been involved in this type of surgery for 10 yrs.
Before the surgery there is a list of possible complications, and they make you sign it and they make sure you understand what you are getting into.
I would rate him 1-10, I'd rate him 500.
Both surgicial competence and bedside manner
were fantastic, no matter how busy he was with surgery, or being in his office, he made sure to see you everyday.

Absolutely the best surgeon/doctor I have ever dealt with. When working with Dr. Prewitt, I could tell that he really cared about my success and that he enjoys helping people live complete and happy lives.

And it is not just him, it is the staff in his office who were all so friendly and remember my name when I come in for a visit...even the receptionist! His partners in the Community Memorial Hospital Bariatric Program, like nutritionist Barb Taggert, are also great people to work with and full of information!!!

He was very interested in me and conveyed his interest in making my life better post-sergery. He stated that out of all the surgeries he performs this is the most rewarding. It was our first visit and he went into detail about the proceedures. We talked about how important it would be for me to meet with a therapist, dietician and have a sports medicine evaluation. Dr Prewitt performed my LAP RNY on 12/12/05. He was in my hospital room everyday asking questions and explained in great detail everything that I was going through. He was patient, informative and seemed genuiinely concerned about my total well-being. He personally returned all my calls and so far everything he has predicted has come true. I have recommended him to friends and members of my family based on my experience with him.
