Shelby Baptist Medical Center Hospital
I had one very motherly nurse during the night shift. She was very helpful and was sure to check on me regularly. However, my day nurse had to be paged every time I needed pain medication or food. I had to keep up with how many hours it had been since I had any. She was very insensitive to the surgery I had. I got the impression that she looked down on me for it. When it was time for my Iv to be taken out she wouldn't bother. It wasn't until the IV was wedged in sideways and eventually fell out along with a lot of blood did she take it out. When it was time for me to go home she made me walk to the car rather than get me a wheelchair. My mother was more of a nurse than she was. In fact my mother was the one that got me food and brought in aspirin for me to take when I was too out of it to beg the nurse for them.
They made me feel at home. If I needed something they got it for me. My husband and son spent the 3 days with me. My son asked lots of questions and the nurses took the time to explain what they were doing to me and how it worked. A special thanks to all my nurses and Techs on that floor that took care of me.
