Walked every day last week. Twice on Wednesday! I guess my exercise is balancing out my intake.
Still wanting to get to my goal of 135 - 140.
Topic: RE: Monday Morning Weigh Ins
Good Morning Stephanie and all my surgery sisters (and brothers),
I've had something crazy happen to me. I thought I was through losing weight (which was absolutely fine) and then I dropped another 5 lbs! I just bought some new clothes that I needed and now I might as well just return them - haven't worn them yet!
I'm probably the only person to complain about losing weight.
I just am frustrated because I want to stabilize at a weight and then maintain that.
My clothing situation is crazy, I have saved clothes (all sizes) for years in storage and I keep taking them out, dry cleaning them and then I'm lucky I can wear them once before they are too big. I bought a bunch of 14 pants a while ago and now I'm wearing all of them safety pinned! I had to pay to have them hemmed as well...it's crazy!
Sorry, I shouldn't be complaining (that's my MO) - losing is better then gaining!
So, here's my current stats:
SW:272
CW:147!!!
Total: 125 lbs!
I dropped 5 lbs in the last week - after weighing 152 for the past few weeks.
Hope everyone has a good week. My goal for this week is to attempt to eat just a bit more (protein-wise) during the day. That's where I'm lacking...also to get over this nasty bronchitis that is kicking my butt!

Topic: RE: Tailbone- LINDY!!!
Sorry, I haven't replied until now, I have been overly swamped with my close out of my old job and starting my new one.
I honestly have just been in pain and I haven't really found a good alternative solution to keep from being in pain. There is a lady on the Texas board that had this very problem and she had to have some kind of surgery to remove her tail bone. She said it was extremely painful. I sure hope it never gets to that, because I don't really want to have to go through that kind of surgery or pain, but I will tell you I am very concerned that it's only going to get worse. I have tried a heating pad and sometimes that helps or just taking advil. I also have tried those one of those seat cushions that has gel in it and that turns cold with your body heat, it seemed to really work.
Let me know if you figure anything out.
Hugs,
Lindy

Totally vegetarian, and only one gram of fat and two grams of sugar!Certified organic, made with organic pinto beans, organic brown rice, and just the right blend of spices, wrapped in a organic wheat tortilla. It's great tasting, plus it has zero cholesterol, and is lactose free!

I got mine at Costco. You can get them online at http://www.cedarlanetogo.com/p-21-cedarlane-burrito-wraps-to-go-16-items.aspx with a variety of other burritos in a "burrito sampler pack" One of the varieties has 350 calories and 35 grams of protein--great to split in half and have as two snacks!
I'm still a big fan of the Boca Breakfast Wrap--if you haven't tried them yet, please do! I reviewed it a few months ago--have a look...

I hear ya on eating more, but my NUT said to eat no more than a cup. Does that seem like too much to you? What were you told?
Topic: RE: Monday Morning Weigh Ins
No that's the problem - I can eat more than I feel like I should be able too. I'm thinking of doing the cottage cheese test to see the size of my pouch. Has anyone done that?? INFO BELOW:
Just about every patient asks this question on occasion. It is expected and appropriate that the stomach pouch will enlarge somewhat as the months pass after gastric bypass. Some of this enlargement is an actual increase in size, and some represents a softening (regaining of elasticity) of the pouch and its outlet.
The real answer is that the FUNCTIONAL size varies with many factors such as time of day, the amount of time taken to eat, mood of the patient, other medical issues, and (most importantly) the type of food eaten. It is expected and appropriate that the pouch will handle a much smaller amount of solid food (chicken) than mushy stuff like mashed potatoes or soup.
The cottage cheese test is a technique that was presented at the June 2000 meeting of the ASBS (and many times before that) by Latham Flanagan, MD (website is at The Oregon Center for Bariatric Surgery). It is meant to be a standardized, reproducible measurement of the physical size of the stomach pouch in a person who has undergone a gastric bypass procedure.
Purchase a container of small curd low-fat cottage cheese. Begin the test with a full container, and perform the test in the morning before eating anything else (this will be your breakfast on that day). Eat fairly quickly until you feel full (less than five minutes). Note that the small soft curds do not require much chewing. The idea with the rapid eating is to fill the pouch before there is much time for food to flow out of it.
After eating your "fill" of cottage cheese, you will be left with a partially eaten container that has empty space where cottage cheese used to be.
Start with a measured amount of water (16 ounces, for example), and pour water into the container of cottage cheese until the water is level with the original top level of the cottage cheese.
Voila - the amount of water poured into the container is the functional size of the pouch.
If this is your first time doing the test - DON'T PANIC. You are likely to find that the "cottage cheese" size of your pouch is way bigger than your surgeon told you he/she made it at the time of surgery. Dr. Flanagan's data indicates that the average size of the mature pouch by cottage cheese test is 5.5 ounces. He has also found that sizes ranging from 3 to 9 ounces have NO IMPACT on the person's success in weight loss.

Good Tuesday Morning, January Lovelies! That's right ladies...I completely forgot that yesterday was Monday so I missed weigh-ins. Ooopsies! And, I only have a few minutes today to post because I have serious studying to do for my A&P test tomorrow....yuck! Here's those numbers:
Surgery/high: 251.5
Last Monday: 144.0
Today: 145.0
Gain/Loss: +1.0
Yay!!! I made it back to 145...now if I can just keep it there (more or less) without going crazy or gaining too much. I am going to try to only weigh once this week...normally it is every morning. Maybe if I just go by how my clothes fit and how I feel, that emotional screaming in my head to quit gaining will go away? Have a great week ladies...I'll try to read everyone's latest posts when I have a break later today.
