Fatigue 1 month post-op
Hi all! I'm one month out and have went from 254 lbs. to 226 lbs. I'm very pleased with that. My biggest problem is just fatigue. I can't hardly get through a day without laying down for a nap at some point. I go back to working full time on Monday, and this is going to be hard for me. I think the sub-lingual B-12 tablets I've been taking aren't doing too much for me and I'm going to ask the doctor to give me an injection. Has anyone else experienced this same problem with the sub-lingual B-12s?
I have had a shot already, and not quite as fatiqued as you are, but still not back to full energy level by any means...I went back to work half days last week and I think I could have made it through the day, but leaving early was much nicer ...still going to bed hours earlier than I used to.
Any chance you could find out if you could leave early if you NEED to? Just having that choice makes you feel better about going to work.
My surgeon's office gave me no choice on B12 at first...they said down the road aways I MAY be able to get by with pills, but said most patients opt for the shot because it gives them more energy.
In addition to getting enough protein are you getting enough fluids? Dehydration is a leading cause of fatigue in wls pts.
Don't try to drink a set amount each day, but just drink enough so that your urine is light yellow and just about odorless. If it is, then that indicates that you are well hydrated no matter how many ounces you consumed.
Hope you feel better soon.

I'm one month out also. I think the fatigue, which I'm also experiencing, is due to the large amount of weight we're dropping right now and will continue for another month or so. Can you lie down during your lunch hour anywhere? I had a B-12 shot and I can't say it helped all that much. Keep up with water, as lack of that will intensify the fatigue. My lowest point in the day is usually about 2 (don't know if that is typical). Any chance you can shut your eyes on break? (I'd even consider going out to my car, but then I don't live in a cold climate. Be sure to set an alarm if you do!) Go to bed AT LEAST an hour earlier than you have been doing. I find if I do anything in the evening at all, I'm a wreck the next day.
Hope some of these thoughts help. I also have to work a lot and it's really hard right now.

Wow, your NOT alone.....I had surgery on the 15th and just this weekend, I feel like I could sleep all day, if allowed. I have two boys, under 3 yrs old, so thats not an option...but boy I wish I could!
I take my Isotonix liquid vits, along with Vit C, iron cap (really small), and a B-12 sub linguial, and get in 2 protein shakes a day and still feel like crap! I feel run down, like the way you feel before getting sick...who knows, maybe I am getting sick.
Just wanted to get more info from the other Marchers on what their doing to increase there energy levels these days. Does walking on a treadmill really help or do you crash after excersizing? Also, what are you eating? I'm still on the full liquids/puree diet....soups, puddings, mashed potatoes and eggs seems like what I eat all the time. End of next week I can graduate to soft foods, but I think I'm afraid to eat something solid in fear of that choking or frothing thing some get?
Am I alone in feeling like that??

-20 lbs.

I have been reminded by friends in the medical field that we have had MAJOR surgery. Just getting over the anesthesia can take 6 weeks before it is out of out systems. I have had problems with lack of energy and only recently have been able to make it through the day w/o a nap. I have chalked it up to my reaction to anesthesia because it took them nearly 6 hours to wake me up. I could bearly wake up in the hospital for the first 2 days. I just know energy will come back.
