Elizabeth!!!!! Thanks for thinking of me. I'm willing to try everything and anything. I'm scheduled for surgery on my lower back in the Fall, but that's not going to help my neck or mid back. I'm game to try the Castor Oil. Especially on my upper back where it feels like someone plunged in an ice pick. Can you send me the link?
Hugs back attcha!

Marilyn, I'm proud of you. I didn't walk, instead I worked. I'm always working, what else is new. I started at 7 this morning, moved on to the 2nd job and finally got home at 10:30. I'm whipped. That was 15 hours straight, without a break for lunch or dinner. I ate an apple on the run. Why don't I weigh 98 pounds?

Karen,
I had exactly the same symptoms and was miserable. I called the wls office and they didn't have any ideas. I brought it up at support group and several people said they were having the same issues. My surgeon she said that sometimes the part of the intestine that is the "Y" in the RNY can sort of reverse on itself, causing pain, but that doesn't explain the gas and bloat. At least not to me it doesn't. I haven't had a soda in almost 6 years so that wasn't it. I finally went to a gastro-enterologist and he told me to cut back on salads and green veggies for a while. That seemed to do the trick. Lots of fiber seems to make me miserable. I keep Gas-X on hand and it helps on the rare occasion when I have a flare up. I'm back to eating salads and seem to be doing OK now.
Try cutting back on salads and veggies for a week and see if that helps.
Hope you feel better soon.

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well, but, I think it might be from the foods you have been eating as well. I know that when I drink soda, which is rare. I get lots of gas from it!! So good that you have stopped that. I hope you can find relief soon & find what
is causing it!!
Genlte hugs sent your way.

O.K. So I did not walk yesterday, but, today I did. I walked for 20 minutes one-way & 20 minutes back to the apt for a total of 40 minutes today. Hey it's more than I have done for weeks. It is also 103 today, so a good thing I did it this a.m. & not right now.
Did you walk today????

I for one do not like how my body changes.
Ok so I"m older and I expect changes but geesh!
After the surgery the gas problems were unbelieveable. the sounds were something that just did not sound like they shoudl be coming out of my body. And the smells. ok ok I know too much information but at one point I remember discussing this on this board about 4 & 1/2 years ago. so i know that its somthing we all went through.
Now I still have the sounds the smells not so bad I think its because I'm eating more normal foods - vegis fresh fruits that kind of thing but if I have too much of soemjthing thats not right it all comes back. Just like Reenie said I'm not suggesting that you are doing that I'm commenting on what has happeend to me.
What I have found is that if I am eating with others and the conversation is flowing and exciting I'm gulping alot of air. The cokes would give you that extra air too so thats a good thing tha tyhou've stopped those.
good luck! and god bless, pam

Ok, just back from my walk! I didn't even change out of my work clothes, took my dress and my casual shoes out the door and headed for the water - what I used to consider the greatest perk of my job; about 1/2 mile down, and a 1/2 mile back up steep include and tons of steps to get back to my building. So I got a good 40 minutes of huffing and puffing in. How 'bout you??? M.

Hi Karen, yikes! I'm so sorry for your discomfort. I know when I eat foods that I shouldn't be eating (and I am not suggesting this is what you're doing, only that this happens to me when...) - my stomache gets very bloated and the gas is terrible. I don't have the kind of pain you're describing though, except in extreme cases of gas - and I know what that is and why and I wait for it to pass - no pun intended! Take a look at what you're eating and ask yourself, is this out of the norm of what or how I normally eat? No matter what, you're smart to get it all checked out. Please let us know how you're doing - I'll worry about you until I hear all is well! Maureen

Hi Everyone!
I have been in a lot of pain these past few months and really don't know why. When I eat, my stomach bloats and the distension and gas is just so painful. I am not consitpated; but the gas feels like I am! I went to the bariatric surgeon and he did an upper GI and determined that I do not have an ulcer, my stoma looks good and so does my pouch. Said there might be a little bit of scar tissue in the small intestine, but nothing of any magnitude. So...I stopped drinking Diet Cokes and started chewing my food more and eating slower...that seemed to help some of the time. But not today. I have a call in to the doctor again...What could it be?
Thanks for listening!
