Topic: Hello Marchers!
I'm sorry I have been away so much. I haven't the time to day to fully catch up, but it looks like we have humor, frustration, grieving and rancor here. All pretty much parts of normal life except the rancor part. I did not dig to find the origins, nor do I care. The bottom line is that we are women and we get a bit emotional from time to time. But we are sisters, in a more real sense than most of us who have biological sisters. So, starting today, let's each decide to give each other (and the board as a whole) the gift of forgiveness and a new start. Whatever hurt feelings we may have is not worth damaging this community that we love, so let's start by dumping the guilt and the hurt feelings and remembering the great journey we have been on.
I love each of you. I owe each of you a big debt for the support you have given and continue to give me. I am busy living life. I have my own share of personal hurts (I lost my furbaby in Sept too), and frustration (I'm trying in vain to housebreak a new puppy!). I weigh more than I should, but not nearly what I once did. I love my husband and kids and grandkids, and they drive me crazy. I love being retired, but I'm broke. Is my cup half empty or half full? I tell you, it is RUNNING OVER! The sun is shining, and I have today to do with as I see fit.
May God bless each of you!

Topic: What I'm Eating
Good morning all - the sun is shining, it's a beautiful day in CT. Hope you all have a super day. Here's what's on my plate, if anyone can help me figure out the calories I will ingest if I stick to this today, I'd really appreciate it - thanks:
B: handful of red grapes (about 10) and a hard boiled egg
S: celery stalk (two pieces) with 1T peanut butter
L: Lean Cuisine meal (340 calories) w/homemade cole slaw (Jim's, he should market it!)
S: low-fat cheese stick and small clementine
D: my protein shake (equals about 210 calories)
I'm sticking to my workout but my knees are in bad shape. Trying to figure out what to do about that so that I can keep moving this butt!
My most powerful positive thoughts are with you all today.
Peace,
Maureen

Thanks, I'll check it out. How are you feeling these days, how's Rufus? M.
Topic: RE: Kim, Where's Wednesday's Recipe??
Hope all is well with Kim. I enjoy her recipes. I was going to be a poor substitute and post a recipe, but I went to Caputo's website to look for a recipe and actually started getting nauseous. Nothing to do with the recipes, probably has to do with the new meds. Anyway, here's the link. You guys can pick your own recipe.

Topic: RE: Medication
Wow, a pain free day for Connie! Very good news! Is there really such a thing as a vitamin patch - if not, you're onto something here! M.
Topic: Medication
Just wanted to share with you a breakthrough I've had in medication. I've been on pain pills for some time and it has been hit and miss on how well they work. My doctor and I haven't been sure what impact, if any, the wls had on my absorption, but I'm pretty sure I'm not absorbing the whole pill. We started me on a transdermal patch and life is suddenly good. For the first time in years, I woke up this morning and didn't do a Fred Sanford shuffle to the bathroom. If you need to be on meds, especially long term, ask your doctor if you can get a patch. I'm going to start looking for a vitamin patch.
Be well,
C.

Hi Connie, yes, that piece was incredible - can't imagine what that must have sounded like live! I leaned over to my colleague and said, "I can't breathe!" The campus gathered together in our largest auditorium to watch - there certainly is a new meaning to the word Hope! To answer your question: I find that my evening hours are less problematic for me because I am usually too dog-gone tired to eat! This is especially true on the nights I get home from the barn after a hard ride on Laela. For me, if I end my day with the protein shake (which is really so thick I have to eat it with a spoon, so it's very filling), I feel more 'empty' the next morning, which feels good. If I have the shake in the a.m. instead, I am famished by mid-morning and I start snacking on typically really bad food choices. YES, the green tea right before bed really helps me! And it's suppose to be very good for you. I've spit-started a program off and on for almost a year to try to stave of regain - and this a.m. I'm back up to 157.5 - but I will not give up until I find what works for me. Exercise is soooooooo important. Hope this helps and I would love to hear from others about their tips. Anyone up for sharing "best practices"?? Peace, Maureen

What a fitting quote, today of all days. Beautifully chosen. As I type, I'm listening to Itzak Pearlman and YoYo Ma play at the Inauguration and the piece written by by John Williams is leaving me breathless. I love YoYo Ma and was brought to tears when he played Appalatchia Waltz here a couple of years ago.
Anyway...
What a wonderful weekend with your family and what memories you've created.
Do you have any issues with only having a protein shake for dinner? I've had a battle royale with snacking between dinner and bedtime for as long as I can remember. Does the tea help you stave off the snack monster? I'm convinced that if I can just get past the night time snacking, I'd lose every last ounce of my excess weight. Any tips you can share?
Hugs,
Connie

Good morning, friends. I hope all is well in your worlds. Getting back in from visiting daughter Jillian waaaaaay up north - we ate too much and talked together as a family even more, no computers, t.v.s, gaming, cell phones, iPods, just the four of us talking and laughing together in the dark of our hotel room until we fell asleep. It doesn't get much better than that... and on this day I can't help but share a quote from Lincoln, which seems to be quite appropriate for our beloved Board: "I shall do less whenever I shall believe what I am doing hurts the cause and I shall do more whenever I shall believe doing more will help the cause. I shall try to correct errors when shown to be errors and I shall adopt new views so fast as they shall appear to be true views." Have a great day everyone. Peace, Maureen
