Interesting and amazing findings here.  I never realized the staple lines could come apart...this is something that was not told to us at first, but I guess they have seen it over time.

That drinking 8 ounces of water thing you talked about in your last post....I could NEVER do that.  I think I would explode.  Seven "gulps" of water at a time is the max I can do before burping!

I think if the surgeon finds something wrong after the surgery, no matter how far out you are...it should be repaired.  If things are stretching and can be tightened, then they should be. This is why it is important to see your surgeon on a regular basis. People tend to blame themselves for the gain, when in actuality it can be an internal problem.  Again, I also wonder about the high rate of weight gain after surgery and how it actually takes place.

The bottom line is lifestyle change.  If all tests are normal and the surgery has not been compromised in any way, then other things need to be looked at.  I feel that many people were not properly prepared for the lifestyle change that should come with the surgery.  I think eating disorders and the reasons for overeating were not examined as closely as they should have been.  I just feel that many people were not prepared the way they should have been.

I will now get off my soap box and go back to work.

Bye!
Joanie

Ok. Yeah. I can do that with my eyes closed.   Easy peasy. I mean really. Water?? pthbbb... no problemo. I can guzzle away... unless of course I ate a bunch and then drank real quick. That never goes over too well. But I can eat ALOT if I let myself. (which I dont) It use to be that when I didn't eat hardly anything for a few days...when i went to eat something my tummy shrunk a little and i felt full again... not anymore. So I know things are way a miss down there. Bigger tummy... bigger stoma.. easy enough to read. It has to be that way for me. One of these days I'll go to my surgeon so she can check. Just can't yet... can't afford it this time around after going to the doctor so much. darn 25 buck copays a shot. im' tapped. Shes helping me with everything anyway. Not much the surgeon can do really even if it is all stretched out for me unless i want to pursue the ROSE "solution" but i can't afford that either sooooss... sticking with my doc for now. I'm going to try the test anyway though. See how much I can guzzle. Thanks for the post!!!

OMG! I have been on such a bacon kick! Last 2 days I have had 4 bacon for breakfast (yeah, 4 bacon each day). But thats it. I know thats bad enough!!! But surprisingly I had lost 2 pounds... they are a bit fatty but not real high in calories. and its protein so I guess its not too too bad so don't feel too upset over the bacon. I know for me if i eat any carbs... pthffbb' forget it. i wont loose a thing. But way to go!!! I'm so proud of you! I keep thinking about you because i'm getting ready to join up on Monday (so's the plan at least).  so i'm using you as inspiration

Topic: Vitamin Deficiency
Hi Everyone,

Hope all of you are doing well. As for me... I went to the doc on the 18th (last friday) for my physical. I had bloodwork done prior and received my results. My labs are much much better than they were, but I am still deificient in D; Iron; & B-12. Not a big shocker there. But my D was sooooo low before, now I am only one digit under!!! BIG improvement. Same with the others. My iron is a bit lower than the others though. The doc told me that with most of her wls patients she found that despite her patients taking over the counter D supplements, they were still turning up deficient. SO she gave me a prescription of vitamin D 50,000IU Capsules that I take ONCE a week and is going to keep me on prescription indefinietly. B-12 I have a prescription nose spray that I was taking once a month when I should have been taking it once a week. So my fault there. So I have to take the nose spray once a week. (sure beats getting the needles!!!) I'll be doing that for awhile until my B-12 is back where it is supposed to be. My Iron, she said its not too bad. Only like 2 digits below on one level but on another level its more deficient than it should be... you know there are different factors involved with the numbers on iron. SO she told me to double up my iron for about 2 weeks. Fluctuate. Then next week just one pill a day.. when its " that time of the month" then double up. once its over then do one a day. She said you would be able to tell if you are feeling more deficient than normal, but not always. so once in a while double up for a week. We also talked about this insatiable hunger and she mentioned a few medicines out there that most insurance covers. I have AETNA and I think it covers meridia... I think the other is Xenical? i can't remember...anyway... we also talked about my exercise regimen. So I'll be starting that soon and she hopes that may boost the metabolism a bit, if not we will look at things again. so I go back in 6 month to get my labs done again and to see if I am having any better results with weight loss. She said of course, it will be harder to get the weight off when my labs are off whack and im deficient in my vitamins. (of course). But all in all things are looking better. And of course the struggle continues to get the weight off. Been doing ok though. 20 pounds gone (in all - not in addition...I wish!) and i'm really trying hard to get more off. at least 2-5 pounds this week or 2 s what i'm striving for!  ((Hugs to everyone!))

I love this THANK YOU!!!! Some of these are iffy to me. the last being the worst because its stomach stapling and like they mention...of course there would be similar issues that old stomach stapling had. The other I think is iffy is the block in the intestines. While it would prevent the fat absorbtion etcetera etcetera... it would also really block our vitamin intake even more so I would think. Maybe not... I have heard of the ROSE procedure. But not too much about it because I think it was fairly new when I had heard about it. Thats still in the back of my mind (i know you've had that done and didn't have such good results). But just to have that little tiny extra boost would help. But not if I have to pay out of pocket!!!  which im sure i would. so thats out the window for me. I'm struggling but I think I'm slloooowly getting there. I'm going out this weekend to get my work out clothes. Well... work out shirt at least. Then I'm PLANNING on starting back up at the gym on Monday. :)  if I can get my lazy butt in there!!! I started new hours so there is no excuse for me!!! I'm gonna start with 1/2 hour a day 5 days a week. Thank you for this info! Always love reading this kind of stuff! ((hugs!!))
