Topic: RE: Iron Deficiency
YOu know I was thinking about the gettign older thing myself.
most of my in life friends have not had surgery to lose weight. they have most of the same complaints as we do!
In fact i have a good friend who has to take specail supliments from her doctor because of her anemia and she is perfect in size. she's 57 and just has this problem.
another friend of mine has issues with cholesteral. I've never even when i was heavy had a problem with that.
now my mother who was heavy but as she has aged has lost weight has a problem with her legs and the viens in them. I'm prone to those issues myself. vericlose viens run in my family. when i was heavy my legs would ache. they did great after i lost the weight but rece3ntly without the doing the excersize i need to do they have started aching again.
but i think that if i still had that weight i'd be doing alot worse health wise.
my blood pressure (hold on knocking on my wooden desk.....) has been great,.
i'd never had a problem with that but over the few years before surgery it would creap up a point or 2 and the doc had said to me if i didn't lose weight i'd have to be on meds in a year so now that it is good thats on the back burner.
anemia was something i had when i was pregnant with the kids but i've not had it checked in a while. i think listening to you guys i'm going to be proactive instead of having to weight to be reactive and the next time i have blood work i'm going to re4quest they do that too,.
i guess thats what we've got to do be proactive.
so i listen to all of you and do what i think will help me even if i do not hav a problem with it right then and there.
lik ethe anemia i will get tested for it plus i will do some googling to find some good foods that could help boost it up.
on a lighter note...whats everyone doinjg this weekend? something fun or relaxing thats just for you?
friday hight i'm planning on going to the moviesall by myself or with my daughyer to see the new woodstock movie tht is coming out. i was 16 the year of woodstock and more afraid of my mother than i was of running away for the weeeknd so i stayed home and listened to all my friends when they came back about their wild and crazy times. i told them how bummed (hahaha) i was about missing it but inside let me tell you i was glad i didn't go! no food! pouring rain! the pottys were discusting! no toilet paper! forget it! when i go camping i require much more than that! but of course when i hear from those friends i always agree and say wow you have such awesoem memories!

I'm going to try the Manesium Oxide. I've never heard of that so I'm hoping this might do the trick. Thanks!!!!
I haven't gone the iron shot route yet. Doc is going to try Ferrous Sulfate pills first. I'm on so many other pills that he wants to try lowest risk approach first and then keep ramping up if that doesn't help. I'm not sure why he thought the pills would be better than the shot, but I'm going along with it.
Thanks again for the magnesium oxide tip. I'm more excited about a tip for constipation than I would be if someone gave me a winning lottry ticket.

Marilyn,
I'm really, really sympathetic. Sounds lik we're on the same rocky path. Hope the ultrasound shows nothing serious. I'll hang in there and you hang in there and I'm positive that everything will work itself out for the best.
Hugs,
C.

Yeah,Maybe if I had taken more than a multi-Vit & B-12 I would not be having all
these problems 5 yrs out.
I see the list of others what they take in vitamins & wow not even close to what I take
even now. Getting better, but, not anywhere like I should be.
I agree with Reenie Getting Older really sucks big time.

I always put a teaspoonful of ground flax in my protein shake - dunno if it helps with the constipation or not, but I don't have issues with that anymore, unless I go too strictly protein. M.

Yup, I am one of those that is working on the anemia problem right now as well. Am taking Ferrous Gluconate for now As still trying to get the good stuff approved thru Insurance I have. This is better than nothing & better than some out ther for us. So far
after 1 week, have not seen the sonstipation problems. I have added benefiber back
into my coffee in the mornings, so maybe, that is why. I also upped my B-vits & B-12 am sleeping better. My PCP said that the anemia does effect a lot of other stuff. So
Connie I do relate.
I have to have a pelvis ultra-sound tomorrow for possible cyst problems. hoping they
are nothing & biopsy next week on a polyp found from my pap. So dealing with stuff
along with the back issue (still in the works).
Hang in there Connie Here's to you feeling better soon.

Yup. Me Too, I am still around. I have cut way back on all my boards this past month.
Dealing with health issues, trying to get them under control & just not wanting to post
much. I do read them all & post once in awhile, just not as much as before.
Thanks Pam Great Post!!

i had a serious constipation issue after stopping the use of laxatives. geesh i'd been using them in the morning and at night all to lose that extra weight!
anywhooooo
i won't even go in the aisle for that stuff at the grocery store!
my naturalist doctor said to use ground flax seed.
i figured ok i'll give it a try.
After googling I found that its very healthy for everyone. My endocronologist also says every should be using some form of flax. he uses oil but after listening to me rave on and on about it he's going to try it too.
i sprinkle a tablespoon of it in my eggs when i am cooking them. I will admit the first time i took a bite i thought ewwwwww it looks like ground up brown dust. but it has a nutty kind of taste to it. very quickly i got use to it AND to the benefits that it gives me!
now if i do not have it with my eggs in the morning i am not regular. i dont' feel good if i don't go at some point during the day so now it takes care of business.
i will sprinkle a small amount on my cottage cheese or yogurt too.
i got mine in a local health food store but you can buy it in walmart for less. thts what i'm doing this week.
