Topic: RE: Couple of Questions
This is unreal, Connie - we continue to mirror each other in medical issues - I was at the doctor last night getting an EKG because my pulse rate has been as high as 120 - but it goes very low as well, last night (of course) at the doc's it was around 56. When it races very fast, I get a painful pressure in my chest. He took blood and I'm waiting for the results. This has to be more than a coincidence - anyone else?? Maureen (P.S. I don't know anything about pre-digested protein but it sounds gross!!! )

Hi Connie
I have been told that we obsorb Whey protein better than others. I also have been
told by many that they can not tolerate the Whey & have to use the whey isolates which is a mix of proteins. I don't know if this helps, but, if you check with Michelle
aka vitalady. she will have your answer & be happy to answer. you can reach her
through her website : Vitalady @vitalady.com.
As for the fast pulse rate, I have no idea, but, I would have my PCP run some tests
& make sure that some of your meds are not causing the problem.
I have gone back to shakes as I am also anemic & use the Walmart brand whey protein. I can't afford the good stuff from Vitalady or the shipping fees right now.
It's all I can do to buy the 12.00 stuff at wally world.

Topic: Couple of Questions
Has anybody tried pre-digested protein in their shakes or know if it is helpful for us? My protein is low, as well as I'm anemic, and The Man suggested pre-digested protein. He used to use it when he was a body builder and in competition martial arts (a very long time ago). He says that it is more easily absorbed. GNC and HiHealth sell it, but I don't want to waste my money of it's not any better than regular protein powders.
Second question - For a while now, my pulse rate has been jumping up and down like crazy. One second it will be a normal 60 to 70 beats a minute and in a split second it races up to as much as 125 beats per second. When I went in for the scope today, it was doing that. They ran an EKG and said that they weren't worried for the scope, but I should get it checked. Has anybody heard of this?
Thanks!!!!!!!

Topic: RE: What's the dirt on the reunion?
I'm so glad you had a wonderful time. I couldn't agree with Karen more and I've said all along that happiness is a right., not a privilege Everyone needs to pursue happiness. Keep those feelings from the reunion in the forefront and make it a priority to be happy.
Topic: RE: Ok Dokey Healthy Diet Time!
Runs? Runs? I'd kill for the runs.
You always want what you don't have.
I posted on the scope. I'm afraid that all of this anemia business is going to mean postponing my October surgery. The Man says that back when he was a body builder, he used to make shakes with pre-digested protein and he thinks I should try it. I think GNC sells it, but I have no idea whether it would do folks like us any good. Maybe I'll post on that and see if anybody has any thoughts.

Topic: Endoscopy Results
I'm done and I'm home. I'm whipped. Everyone was much surprised to find nothing bleeding, although I have some ulcerated spots that he sent for biopsy. I'm trying to figure out what Gastric Cardia means because the report he gave me has lot of pics titled Gastric Cardia, but it looks like the inside of a a pink and brown garden hose to me. That may be what he biopsied. I also have Reflux Esophagitis and a Schatzki Ring. I've never heard of a Schatzki Ring, but apparantly it is a ring that forms in the Esophagus from reflux and makes it hard to swallow and causes food to get stuck. How lovely is that? Doc wants to explore further down because we still haven't found the source of the bleed so a video capsule endoscopy is next. His report also said "There was evidence of a widely patent stoma in the jejunum." He knew I had gastric bypass and the stoma is at the jejunum where it is supposed to be. What I don't know is what "widely patent" means. My guess is that it's just there and not constricted, but I'll call my surgeon or Google to find out.
So this is good. No bleeding ulcers and I'm on a script to clear up the ulcers I do have. I'm sure the biopsy will be fine. Everything I google on Gastric Cadia has a link to cancer, but so far, I haven't found a solid definition of Gastric Cardia. Not sure what it does. Maybe my brother Ben can help.
Va - I did contact my surgeon to see if she could do this. She was booked, but they said that Dr. Wiss, who did the scope, works with a lot of wls patients and they were comfortable with him.

Karen, you are something else! Thanks for the nudge... have been meaning to drop in but life is incredibly hectic right now. The Reunion was incredible, I have not laughed and loved so hard in so many years... I rediscovered myself this past weekend - my passion, humor, spontaniety - I really woke up from the dead!!! I performed with a dearly beloved old friend and we rocked the house - so many people told me that I remind them of Carol Burnett (what an honor!) - so I must at least look like I'm normal weighted, even if I don't feel like I am!! Ah, it was a blast. I am renewed. I will try to post a photo or two to my profile page - thanks for asking, sweetheart. We all deserve to live our lives with great passion and laughter and love, in fact, I am committed to rejecting living my life like a zombie - ever again!! Love to you all, Maureen
