Thank you so much for your answers!!!!!!!!!! I am fine so far so good!!! I think I just got "lucky"! I won't be trying it again anytime soon as it gave me an awful fright. I have been absent from the board so much because I am practically working night and day! I miss reading and keeping in touch with everyone!!!

Hi Lori,
I had surgery on March 21st too! I started at 243 and am at 218 right now. Congrats to you on your terrific weightloss so far! That's awesome! I had a two week plateau that started at the beginning of my 2nd week post-op. I had lost 20 pounds already when it started, then I didn't lose another thing until Wednesday of last week. Since then I have lost about a pound per day. I am hoping it continues for a while. During the time that I wasn't losing weight, I did lose inches. So make sure that you take measurements so that you can have that to hang onto during the inevitable stalls. Like so many others told me when I complained about my plateau, we didn't gain all this weight overnight - so it's no going away overnight either.
I had just increased my exercise and upped my protein and calorie intake to hit the 600 calorie mark that my doc recommended when I started losing again. I am also making sure to measure everything and record every little thing that goes in my mouth so that I know I am not getting too much or too little.
You will lose again if you are following the rules that your surgeon outlined, I am sure. Make sure to get plenty of water everyday too!
Good luck,
Robin

Hey, 3 days with no loss is nothin'
, I went for 2 weeks without any loss. I lost 20 pounds total during the 1 week preop and the 1st week post op. Then I didn't lose another pound for 2 weeks. I am losing again now - with a loss of 1 pound per day for the last 5 days. I am hoping this pattern continues for a while. I found that that when I increased my calories from 400 up to the 600 calories that my doc recommended, I started losing again. I also increased my exercise - now I am walking a mile a day and do 30 minutes of kickboxing. I can't wait until I can start lifting weights again! I really hope you get that itching taken care of! It sounds miserable!
Take Care,
Robin

Thanks Robin
I am have been racking my brain and cant think of anything I have changed. sorta crazy stuff all this itching going on! And to top it off I havent lost any more weight the past 3 days! Now what is up with that? Good heavens I dont eat enough to feed a bird! Not that I did eat much before I am one of those oh yeah I havent eaten all day obese people! Yet for the past 8 months I had been doing much better at eating. I guess I have the constitution of a cave woman! I could eat only once every 3 months and still have meat on my bones!

Glad to hear you're off of the BP meds. I'm off mine already too! Yeah!!! My doc put me on Pepsid and actigall post op for ulcer and gallstone prevention. I thought maybe you would be on them too and maybe that was causing the problem. Check and see if you can take benedryl and take some or apply some topical ointment. What about your protein that you are using? You may be having a reaction to that. Or did you switch laundry detergents or fabric softeners? Are you using a different shower gel than before? Try to think of anything that you changed at home that you could be having a reaction to. At any rate, call your doc and see what he says. Sorry I'm not much help, but good luck to you!

Topic: New to board and hit a plateau
Hi all,
I'm new to the board and had my RNY - Laproscopic surgery on 3/21. :-)
I weighed 235 pre-op and have lost 26-27 lbs so far but for the past week have flip/flopped every day. I lose a pound one day, gain a pound the next, lose a 1.5 lbs the next day and then gain 2 lbs the next. I just keep hovering at 26-27 lbs. :-S It's getting really depressing. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
The muscle spasms are almost gone so I should be able to really start exercising -- well when it stops raining in a few days. The muscle spasms were the worse and I'm happy that they are not bothing me as much any more. I've had only 2 bouts of nausea and vomiting so I consider myself very lucky. I've been drinking my protein powder shake - well almost every morning. It gives me lots of energy and I can tell the days when I don't drink it -- I feel so sluggish. At least it tastes like a chocolate milk shake.
Thank you all for the advice and support.

Are you taking any new medications since surgery? You could possibly be allergic to one of them if you are. That must be miserable! I feel for you! I hope you figure out the source of the problem soon and get it takwn care of!
Good luck,
Robin
