Topic: RE: has anyone noticed your loss yet?
I had posted that no one had really noticed. But after that, I had two friends that had not seen me since surgery say that they did not recognize me and wanted to know how much weight I had lost. Then I had 3 people today ask me if I had done something new to my hair. They said something was different but they just couldn't put their finger on what it was (these folks do not know that I had surgery) when I told them no I haven't changed my hair. So I guess people are starting to notice. It feels good! ~Robin

Topic: RE: PCOS and stall already? do i need my metformin
Hi ladies! I too have PCOS but havent' been on meds for a couple of years... .only took it during trying to get pregnant, which was a failure! I had VSG surgery on 3/28 and hit a stall last week, for about 5 days I stayed the same, but I'm convinced that it was due to being able to eat more soft foods, but my energy not being up I wasn't exercising enough. I'm starting to feel better and was down 1 this AM. Hang in there, I hear stalls are common on all WLS!! I had also asked why I'm not getting the shakes due to not eating as much and it was explained I'm not getting much sugar in, so the ups/downs of sugar highs/lows nearly go away.. may be why Metformin isnt really necessary after surgery!

Topic: RE: HELP!!!!! Accidental Swallowing!
Do exactly as Maria said to do. This was one of the reasons that we were discouraged from chewing gum. The other was the amount of extra air being taken in while chewing. Keep us posted and don't freak out. Everything will work out and obviously you are not the first one. Please make the call, though. Take Care~~ D.

Rita ~ You should call your doctor's after hours service and leave a message for someone to call you. I'm 21 months out and haven't chewed any gum since before my surgery for fear of swallowing it (I was a bad gum swallower and fear that I'll do it out of habit). From what my doctor told me, the gum may have to be "fished" out - depends on how large the gum was and how large the opening from your new stomach to your new intestine. The gum will not desolve on its own and if it's too large to pass through the new small opening to your intestines, it will cause a blockage. I know my doctor has a nurse on call on nights and weekends - I hope yours does too. Maria 272/155/146 pre/goal/current

Topic: RE: Nausea, Help! Anyone else feel nausea alot????
Christina, I know exactly how you feel. My surgery was March 6th and it has been nausea nausea and more nausea and then a whole lot of vomiting. I have lost 52 lbs in 5 weeks, it is crazy. I had to go in and have my opening to my pouch stretched last week and this week I am still nauseated and vomiting. I hardly eat anything and I am even having trouble with fluids. I haven't been able to take my centrum chewables for five days becuase I just throw them up. My skin is flaky and dry and I am extremely exhausted. I called my surgeon yesterday and he said give it till monday and if no better to call him. I am very frustrated. It does sound like you might have a stricture though, I would call the dr and see what they think. Hopefully it will get better. Lisa

Well, I had my surgery on 2/28 and I too started out at 282 pounds. I am down 34 pounds from surgery date till today, and pelople are starting to notice a little. I can tell myself like you say just by the way my clothes fit now. And I just recently figured out I can now wear a smaller size, which let me tell you is the best feeling in the ENTIRE world !! Just wait another week or so and people will start saying things. Good Luck !!

My family says I look different, but other than that I don't think anyone has noticed yet. I figure it will happen when i drop a size in clothing, which I am very close to doing. I started at 243 and as of this morning I am down 23 pounds (suregery was 23 days ago). I am very pleased! I have started working out a little more strenuously as it looked like some places were getting a little saggy already! Good Luck, Robin
